Abstract
The article considers the importance of teaching the philosophy of law for students of philosophy and law schools. The major approaches to the disclosure of the nature of law and becoming the subject of science from ancient times to the present days are highlighted. The need to study the works of philosophers and lawyers of the late XIX-th - early XX-th cc. and of the modern scientists who developed the basic concepts and approaches to the study of philosophical and legal problems are pointed out. A history of the Ukrainian philosophy of law, its representatives and major research problems of the late XIX-th – early XX-th cc. are picked out. An importance of further study and research perspectives of the scientifi c heritage of B. Kistyakivskyi, E. Spektorskyi, F. Taranovskyi, A. Fateyev, K. Yarosh, who laid the foundations of the Ukrainian history philosophy of law are marked.
