Availability: Norton mostly isn't very interested in monogamy although he can change his mind about that if a relationship is serious enough. That doesn't happen often, however. Most of the time, if he has a boyfriend, it's an open relationship and if he doesn't have a boyfriend, he's having a lot of one-night-stands. In canon, he once slept with six different men in six different sexual encounters within a matter of hours. This takes impressive horniness and dedication to getting laid. He's also an adrenaline junky and willing to try just about any kink. He operates under the philosophy of "How do I know I don't like it if I've never tried it?" He's also a manipulative bastard and has a transactional mindset. He's absolutely willing to do things he doesn't much care for if he's getting something he wants in exchange.

Norton much prefers to bottom than to top, although he will top upon occasion. He also prefers to sub rather than dom, but will dom/pushy bottom if he feels his partner is not sufficiently taking charge. He has a masochist streak a mile wide and likes rough men and rough sex. In canon on TWO occasions he has been roughed up/tortured by a man and his immediate response is to want to bang them.

Smut-Relevant Historical Notes:Norton was born in 1920s-ish, has never had a sex ed class in his life, likes finding rough trade but doesn't have any sense of the "sane, safe, and consensual" guidelines of modern BDSM, gives blow jobs to strangers in public latrines, shrugs indifferently at the idea of condoms, and in general has a very poor sense of healthy sexual behavior. Norton Folgate is a 1950s disaster gay.

Less Smut-Relevant Historical Notes: "Gay" was a relatively new slang term in Norton's time, and not very common. Norton always refers to himself in canon as "homosexual" not gay, and he perceives homosexuality as not just about sexual orientation, but also as a subculture and almost a gender. i.e. he isn't just gay, he's specifically 1950s London Soho gay subculture gay. This can lead to things that seem really fucking peculiar from a modern perspective, like, he thinks that gay marriage is cultural assimilation into a heterosexual lifestyle and therefore inherently conservative and he's not sure he likes the idea. (Keeping in mind as well that straight marriage in the 1950s was not thought of as a partnership of equals, and some feminist theorists of the era were also not keen on marriage as an institution.)

Also, things that later became gay stereotypes have roots in that 1950s gay subculture, where there was a lot of counter-culture gender performativity going on. There arose basically two competing gay activism movements at that place and time. One argued that gay people were different from straight people, and resisted cultural assimilation to straight culture and gender norms. The other argued that gay people were the same as straight people aside from who they slept with, and that gay people should show that they're not different in order to gain broader social acceptance. So if Norton sometimes seems to lean on gay stereotypes, part of that context is a political conversation that was going on at the time about gay identity and how the gay community should interact with or position itself against the straight majority.

OOC: Because Norton is extremely gay, smut threads are limited to M/M only, unless there's a very compelling reason why he'd need to have sex with someone whom he has no sexual attraction to at all. Such a thread would be inherently very unsexy, but I'm open to the possibility of that kind of scenario if there were good OOC communication and a good IC reason for it to happen.

In general, I have very few squicks and am open to try to write most things if I can latch a character-centric justification for it.
