Description

Once the parent task has been rolled out, it is time to enable the feature.

  • Enable RU & HE wrong keyboard for autocomplete on ruwiki and hewiki
    • Include a message in TechNews announcing the new feature on ruwiki and hewiki, and the plan to enabled it on other wikis the following week.
  • The following week, when we are sure nothing has blown up, enable RU & HE wrong keyboard for autocomplete on Russian- and Hebrew-language projects.
    • If we can enable by language, we will do that; if every wiki has to be configured independently, we will enable it for Wiktionary, Wikibooks, Wikinews, Wikiquote, Wikisource, Wikiversity, & Wikivoyage.
    • we enabled it explicitly for Wiktionary, Wikibooks, Wikinews, Wikiquote, Wikisource, Wikiversity, & Wikivoyage in hebrew and russian where it applies (hebrew does not have Wikiversity)

Added this:

The Wikimedia Search Team has recreated the "DWIM" gadget functionality server-side, for Russian and Hebrew Wikipedias. This feature appends cross-keyboard suggestions to the standard search-box suggestions. For example, searching for cxfcnmt on Russian Wikipedia will now append suggestions for счастье ("happiness"). We plan to enable this feature for other Russian and Hebrew wikis next week. See also Phabricator T408734 and related tickets.

Though I expect it may undergo some editing before final publication.
