Renato Solidum Jr. said the Philippines should accelerate efforts to shift away from petroleum-dependent transportation and move toward electric-powered vehicles amid rising fuel concerns. “It is now the right time for us to be convinced that we need to transition from a petroleum-based vehicle industry to maybe renewable-based vehicle industry, especially on converting petroleum-based motors to electric motors,” Solidum said. According to Solidum, the agency has been coordinating with local government units nationwide to encourage communities and transport groups to adopt electric-powered alternatives. Bonar Laureto nag-share nitoClimate risk is financial riskBonar Laureto nag-share nitoThe US$ 600+ million question - Climate Risk and Scenario Analysis Months ago, a property developer's Board approved a $600+ million mixed-use project in SEA -- waterfront towers, retail podium, and the works. The investment committee had run the numbers. The IRR looked solid. Pre-sales were tracking well. Risk register: standard stuff -- construction delays, demand softening, interest rate moves. Then their CSO asked a different question during the post-approval wash-up: "What happens to this asset if sea levels rise 0.5 metres by 2050?" Silence. Not because it was a bad question. Because no one had modelled it. .. Fast forward: they ran the scenario using the IPCC's SSP2-4.5 pathway -- a middle-of-the-road warming trajectory that's neither best-case nor worst-case. Turns out, under a 2°C warming pathway, that the waterfront became a liability by Year 12. Storm surge frequency tripled. Insurance premiums spiked 340%. Two of the three access roads became flood-prone during king tides. Resale values--the exit strategy baked into their IRR--collapsed in the out-years. The project still went ahead. But the capital structure changed. They shortened the hold period, redesigned drainage infrastructure, moved Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) systems above predicted flood lines, and disclosed the climate dependency in their prospectus. .. Here’s why this is so important right now: Under IFRS S2 (Climate-related Disclosure), this is no longer considered best practice. The Bursa NSRF outlines similar requirements as well. It's now a mandatory disclosure. Investors, especially the pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance firms, want to understand: 1- Which assets are exposed to physical climate risks (using IPCC risk scenarios) 2- How transition policies affect your pipeline--carbon pricing trajectories from IEA's Net Zero by 2050 or NGFS scenarios, evolving green building codes, sector phase-out timelines 3- Whether your strategy is resilient across plausible climate futures--not just business-as-usual This developer didn't have a "climate problem." They had a valuation problem they hadn't uncovered yet and that would impact the corporation and its investors. Scenario analysis surfaced it before the market did. .. Next week, we're running Mod. 3 of the NSRF Preparers' Program on this topic--climate scenario analysis and how it connects to financially-material disclosure. Honestly, I'm still observing how different organizations are navigating this. Every sector faces different exposures, data gaps, Board/CEO conversations. What if, decades from now, historians look back and say this was not the era humanity collapsed, but the era humanity woke up? The moment young people stopped waiting for broken systems to save them and began building new ones themselves. An era when institutions crumbled as the era ended, and perhaps that’s not failure in itself. It may simply be what happens when a different consciousness begins to emerge. One less obsessed with status, extraction, and obedience, and more driven by meaning, connection, creativity, and responsibility. Perhaps this generation is not lost. Perhaps they are the first generation refusing to inherit systems that no longer make sense. And from that refusal, entirely new ways of learning, working, building, and living begin to emerge. And just like that, the very generation dismissed as distracted, lost, and unprepared became the ones rebuilding what came next.

The initial vetted DSPs are Sylvera, Kanop, and Chloris Geospatial. Making the list of vetted DSPs available offers the opportunity for an efficient selection process, which in turn will streamline projects' registration and verification processes. Projects can also opt to use their own performance benchmark from data service providers not listed. VM0047 quantifies carbon removals from activities that establish, increase, or restore vegetative cover in non-forest areas or enhance forest carbon stocks in areas with existing forest cover. The methodology’s area-based quantification approach uses a SI as a relative measure of vegetation change. The SI is derived from remote sensing indices and used to compare observed changes in the project area and in matched controls areas that represent projects’ performance benchmark. 💡 Verra is also accepting Expressions of Interest from additional third-party DSPs with the capacity to support VM0047. DSPs that successfully pass Verra’s vetting process will then be included on the VM0047 webpage and in the Verra Project Hub. The Partner role used to reward three things in roughly equal measure: origination, technical depth and delivery. AI has not made technical depth irrelevant, but it is stripping away the protection that technical credentials and reliable delivery used to provide. The book built on client trust will compound. The book built on process work gets exposed first. The obvious version of this is productivity. AI tools now embedded directly in PowerPoint and Excel can read master templates to orchestrate them in a firm's house voice, draft client decks inline, edit pivot tables and support finance-grade modeling. RFP responses, first-draft Commercial Due Diligence, audit memos, tax research and data synthesis all move faster. The bigger issue is how quickly the legacy operating model can evolve. Professional Services firms were designed around human constraints. The pyramid worked because senior people sold and judged, managers translated and supervised, juniors processed. AI breaks that logic. It changes what work needs to exist, who needs to do it and how much human coordination is required. What survives is narrower. Origination, because trust does not transfer to a model. Synthesis and judgment, because someone still has to call the answer when the model gives five plausible options and the client is waiting. Orchestration, because running a team that is part human and part AI agent is a real skill. Knowing which work goes where becomes the new technical depth. The Partners who can do those things, the minority, will scale beyond anything the traditional pyramid ever allowed. More clients, more work, more insight, with fewer people around them. The rest will struggle to justify their economics. The work that justified their seat is the work the tools are starting to absorb. Meet Zero. 100% open source with Apache 2.0 licence. Every existing language was designed for humans reading error messages and tracing stack output. Agents are terrible at that. They work better with structured data, stable codes, and machine-parseable repair hints. Zero closes that gap. It's a systems language in the same design space as C or Rust. Compiles to native binaries under 10 KiB. Gives you explicit memory control. But the entire toolchain was built from day one to be consumed by agents, not just engineers. Run zero check --json and you get back a structured diagnostic with a stable error code, the exact line, and typed repair metadata the agent can act on. No prose parsing. No regex over stack traces. Humans read the message. Agents read the JSON. Same CLI. A few things that make it different: • Capability-based I/O. If a function touches the outside world, the signature says so. The compiler rejects unavailable capabilities at compile time. • No mandatory GC, no hidden allocator, no implicit async. Memory and control flow stay predictable. • Structured graph output, size reports, and fix plans are first-class CLI commands, not afterthoughts. • One toolchain handles check, build, test, format, inspect, and document. The function signatures expose fallibility and capabilities directly. Allocation is explicit. Target limits get reported before code generation. The agent always knows what it's working with. This is what a language looks like when you stop treating agents as second-class consumers of compiler output and start designing for them as the primary user. Zero is still experimental. Bonar Laureto nagustuhan itoBonar Laureto nagustuhan itoAfter my successful off-grid deployment of a solar-powered temperature sensor using the Blues cellular module, I got completely hooked! ☀️📡 I decided to pull every single cellular module I had out of the drawer to evaluate them, figure out the best fit for future ultra-low-power telemetry projects, and define exactly which module belongs in which use case. 🌍 The SIM Card Dilemma For a long time, I completely resisted cellular IoT. The idea of relying on local telecom SIM cards was a nightmare—having to constantly top them up and worrying that if you miss a recharge, the carrier will just cancel your line. It’s a huge headache and not scalable for remote sensors. 🛠️ The Connectivity Solution Then I found Hologram Inc. Their business model is interesting for makers and engineers: just $1 USD a month plus a tiny cost per MB consumed. It provides an excellent platform to manage my device fleet and gives me the freedom to route my data wherever I want. (Side note: I really love the modules from Blues, but they tie you to Notehub. Even if I use my Hologram SIM with them, the data still has to flow through their cloud first, and I wanted complete routing independence for these next builds). 🔋 Coverage Dictates Power Consumption Evaluating all these modules highlighted a harsh reality of physics: choosing the "ideal" module depends entirely on the deployment location's coverage, which directly impacts your power budget. You can buy the most efficient LTE-M/NB-IoT module on the market, but if you deploy it in the deep mountains where those networks don't exist, you are forced to use a less efficient technology. If you don't plan for this, your device will drain its battery in days just searching for a signal. 🔌 Form Factor & The Arduino Pro Through this process, I’ve really grown to love the miniPCIe form factor for its modularity. I’ve been testing the Arduino Pro 4G module, and it’s a fantastic, robust piece of engineering! However, being an LTE Cat-4 modem, it's a massive overkill (and far too power-hungry) for simple telemetry. I'll definitely keep it in my arsenal for future applications requiring much higher bandwidth. 🚀 What's Next? I’m going to start designing a custom carrier board from scratch specifically for miniPCIe cellular modules! I just ordered a SIM7600G to test on it, as it hits the perfect "sweet spot" in the market for the coverage fallback and efficiency I need right now. It’s going to be incredibly exciting to design this carrier from the ground up, manage the high-current power supply complexities, and implement hardware best practices to tame these modems.
