So because tumblr is deciding to shit itself again, I'm moving my Per Sebek blog from tumblr to here. I'm also crossposting to Pillowfort.

I wanted to have a blog space for longform content and site updates that was shareable in a way a static webpage isn't. And I had no desire to run a blog on a static webpage, so. Here we are.

If you're looking for the website itself, persebek.org is the link. I'm aiming to focus on putting new works up on there, but there's also some older content that I'm putting up because I want it on my current site where it's easy to find.

Constellation: Sextans

Symbol: (Astronomical) Sextant

Keywords: Guide and Friend

Meditation Notes: Sextans appeared to me not just as a sextant, but as a humanoid figure who kept changing appearance/ethnicity, because at one point in time, sextants were just the thing everyone relied on. It's something that went beyond borders. I picked out Egyptian/Arabic and European, but there may have been others I missed as well, it was changing very quickly. I took this to mean Sextans had no fixed appearance, and would appear any way they desired.

Meaning/Interpretation: You have the tools you need to guide yourself. The Sextant helps you find what you're looking for, helping you navigate through whatever you're going through. It will help you focus on what you need, prioritise things, and guide you to the solutions you're looking for.

But, at least for moveable sextants, you cannot work it alone. Seek help from friends and family, your gods and guides. This is not something you can solve on your own. There is help being offered if you can find it, and accept it.

So, I have begun a document to contain all this work for the time being, in unedited form, so I can work with it later. I started with an introduction, added a table of contents, a complete list of all the prompts and links to them, a definitions page I can add to as the year progresses, and then the entries I'm writing into 750words.com.

I have also ordered a notebook with numbered pages to use as a notebook/journal/test workbook as I piece together what kind of grimoire this is going to be. I think deciding what kind of physical journal to put all this in will depend a lot on how much information I have at hand, and what I feel will fill it best. I don't want to buy a notebook and it's too small. But likewise, I don't want to go for a 600 page notebook and it's only half-full. So we'll see. It's probably a decision I'll make later down the line when I have more polished work and have more information organised and ready for transfer.

So I found out about the @2024-grimoire-challenge blog over on bluesky mostly by accident, and too late to really participate at the end of the year, but as one year closes, so another opens, and I want to take the time to go through the challenge on my own this year.

I am not yet keeping a physical grimoire for this challenge, but I would like to at some point. For now, I'm going to post my notes here, written at 750words.com, as a record. I'd one day like to tidy them up and put them in a physical journal, but that's for later, I think.

So this is my attempt at getting back into this, with a theme for writing now. I want to do the 2024 Grimoire Challenge, which has daily writing prompts. idk if I'll do them in a physical book, but I do want to use this to fill out my discord grimoire. I'll probably also keep some kind of backup record or digital bos somewhere just to get all these disparate notes in order.

Honestly it would be lovely to put all this in a physical grimoire at some point though. I think that would be super cool. I might consider it down the line but for now, it'll just be written, and I can collate all my notes and see where I get from there.

I'm hoping this will give me something to write, and not feel like I'm just procrastinating on my words. I am also trying to free my brain from feeling like I can't do fic writing unless I do it in here first, so. This is my way of forcing myself to just write fic anytime I want.

I'll also try to do this earlier in the day. Maybe something to do after lunch or something. Not a late night thing when I will get super tired and won't want to research things. I may do it first thing maybe. Like, take a look at the daily prompts, see if there's anything to research, and get looking into that stuff, either on the web or in my books, and take notes in here for me to refer to. And then I can take these notes and write something more formal later for a physical book. That way I'm not just writing in any old thing in a physical book, but taking the time to research and read and figure out what I want to say before I commit it to pen.

This is my own system, based on historic associations, more traditional planetary magic associations, as well as my own instincts. I wrote them to be used daily before my meditation session in the morning to add to the Graeco-Roman ones I have from more traditional planetary magic sources. Which are nice! But I wanted Kemetic ones too.

Sun: Aten, the Solar Disk

and all i see is her,

the starry belly of nut,

as a soft chorus sings sweetly

surrendering to her rest.
