Here's the link. Really interesting interview. Note the ways in which he does (and does not) answer her questions, his little attacks on academics and film critics (which he then clarifies as *amateur* film critics), and his nervous movements--running his hand through his hair several times, reaching for his cup, etc.
Make note also of what questions Zhong Shu asks, and how she uses her questions as a response to his answers.
Her pointed question about hubris is my favorite move she makes.
LMAO her pointed question about hubris 💀 He’s dismissive of anyone who knows more than him throughout this entire interview.
What stood out to me was the way he confidently considers his culturally Christian & American approach to filmmaking as a universality. He claims the viewer is bringing an inevitable Christian reading of atonement to his film, and claims that his filmic storytelling language is the universal language of storytelling (it’s not), and claims that Ancient Greek xenia is at its core the same thing as the ‘golden rule,’ of ‘treat others the way you want to be treated.’ (???)
The most insightful things he said were right at the end, about how any film he makes is judged against and in conversation with past films of its genre and/or subject material. That’s actually astute, I think, and well-articulated. Though unfortunately for him, it’s only further indictment on his approach to The Odyssey.
this movie is so so so important to me as a neurodivergent person who, like peter, struggles with sensory overload, self-isolation, etc.
trying to suppress his spideryness to be more like a “normal human” doesn’t work, just like how masking for nd people is so exhausting and frustrating. but like bruce says, where do you draw the line between the good parts and the bad parts of being different? which parts do you really want to hide?
what makes things easier is spending time with people who make you feel good and appreciated and cared for, and that’s what this story is about.
they're called "bootlickers" because when there's a boot stomping on their neck they lean forward to kiss it
as soon as i clicked post i realized damn that's such an evocatively erotic description, i should be using this sort of language about noble kinksters, not wasting it on class traitors
How could you leave this in the tags!!!
that's the beta testing stage
One legitimately weird thing about Tumblr is that we literally can’t code for shit, many people quit working at Tumblr due to a hostile work environment, and we can’t seem to program a simple blogging website to not flood your RAM.

it's hard being a polyamorous action hero because whenever i have flashbacks to all my dead wives it takes like 20 minutes to get through all of it
it kind of sounds like youre just feeding local women to the deadwife montage

in hindsight, growing up as an aromantic person who didn't know aromanticism was a thing...it woulda been really easy for me to assume that something was wrong with me, that I was "broken" or "missing" some piece of humanity.
luckily I was autistic, oblivious, and had a huge ego. it literally never occurred to me to frame it as a "me" problem. i just thought every single person i knew was a dumbass
redstonedust AND biggest-gaudiest-poltergeist are aromantic??? are all the famous tumblrinas aromantic??

in less than three years we will have adults born in the 2000’s
the funny thing about this is that both people born in the 2000s are reblogging this freaking out because they arent ready to be adults and people who were born before the 2000s are freaking out about how they feel old and that it cant be happening because all people born in the 2000s are like 4
in less than two years we will have adults born in the 2010’s
