Happy Star Trek Birthday!

"Exploring Strange New Worlds ..."

Certainly this new job of mine is doing just that!

Hey, my friends!  Just sending out a quick waves from the ether and wishing you all a Happy 42nd Star Trek Anniversary Day!

May you all ...  Live Long and Prosper! *g*

(and it was rather fun to introduce the next generation in my new class to the wonders of Things Trek this morning at school!  They actually liked the clips (of classic ST - "Return of the Archons" and "This Side of Paradise)" and I showed them. the toys and books I brought, and the song "Faith of the Heart" from Enterprise I played them on CD!  There's hope for these youngsters yet!!!)

More Fic soon, and meanwhile, keep reaching for the stars!

Spaced Out! - The Spaceys, Spacey, and Superman, Oh My

It's a Total FANDOM Post!  (*shock*, I know)

After an extraordinarily difficult week in RL (punctuated by nasty report cards and a very sad and shocking death of someone special in my acquaintance) I found I kind of really got into this very cool and irreverent and fun Awards Show that' I gotta say is truly a very 'Spacial' experience.  <grin>

The Spacey Awards
are, ironically, a down-to-earth (and quite tongue-in-cheek!) annual show that honours the best in Film and Television Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror productions.  It's put on by The Space Channel (which is sort of like a Canadian cousin to the Sci-Fi Network) and there's no auditorium or red carpet or razzle-dazzle, and at least half of the awards are chosen by fans!  Yep, viewers get to vote online for some of the cooler categories.

So, the 3rd Annual Spaceys were on TV this evening, providing a perfect distraction from the mountainload of work I'm, er, supposed to be doing instead. *wince*

So, what's especially relevant here?

All in all, it was a pretty fun little geeky and rewarding spacie Spaceys Awards Show!  It's so fun to be reminded of just why I am a science fiction and fantasy fan, and still great how this stuff can take me away from the crap that life so often throws.

Back to work now, but with a Vulcan Salute and a Kirk-like Smile!  ;-)

And wondering anew how I can somehow get a real career as a paid nerd in the SF Movie and TV Business!

Not All THose Who Wander Are Lost (but some of us are!)

Revisiting LJ Land Again at Long Last!  Hooray!

Oh, LJ and flist, I've missed you so.  You are an oasis in a desert of long and lonely wandering, thirsting for connection and friends, fandom and fic.  I'm staggering in for a brief sip of your quenching and life-giving waters.

Yep, RL bites.  And hard sometimes.  But it can feel awfully good sometimes to realize that you can survive what life throws at you, and damned good to push back once in a while!

I owe many of you an apology for my long absence and silence.  So, I am sorry.  And thank you for understanding.  I've made it through the summer and early Fall by the skin of my teeth in some respects, and have had nearly zero time for fun pursuits, I'm afraid.  But I'm also feeling somewhat stronger and calmer now than in August, and even a wee bit more like myself.  (at long last!) I hope to stay in better touch!  I hope you are all are doing well!

Well, must finish packing and set out on my journey.  So, I end this bloggy entry with mixed feelings - of anxiety and stress, of fear and worry, but of joy, hope, and renewed strength as well.  They say it's what's inside that counts, that going placidly amid the noise and haste has its own serenity and courage, and these past two months have been a life's lesson I will treasure always.

Best wishes, all of you.  And also, Happy Autumn to everyone!
