A couple years ago my sister, who is an avid fishkeeper, enlisted me to help her name her schools of fish; she’s always had names for the singular fish like her betas, but she often gets a bunch of a single type, and in those cases she wanted to have collective names since there’s no way to tell them apart. We hit upon the idea of naming them after bands but with fish puns, and I came up with a bunch as well as crowdsourcing several additions from friends, and tl;dr these days my sister names her fish schools from this truly incredible list, which I feel deserves to be shared:
