Harry Potter: Harry

Equus, Stargate Atlantis, and birthdays...

After having purchased the tickets in April spellingwitch and I saw Equus last night.  She'd seen it September, but I had not been at that performance.  Well I've been slightly spoiled for this play after reading and seeing various things about it, so I wasn't terribly shocked by anything, but it was still a very intense play with disturbing and sad aspects to it.

The cast was excellent and totally on their game last night, even with a couple of hoarse voices, which did not detract from the performance at all.  It was neat to see people from two different fandoms I'm interested in.  Richard Griffiths and Daniel Radcliffe were both excellent.  They handled the humorous bits so well and the dramatic stuff was just amazing, especially from young Dan.  I'm pretty confident in his abilities for the next HP movie for sure.  He played a distinctly different character here, and it wasn't just because of the script either. I also understand why Richard Griffiths won a Tony a couple of years back.

Kate Mulgrew was also in the play, and she's another one with great stage presence.  Supposedly she sort of bowed to my brother because she saw him standing up all alone in his section.  My brother and his friend came too, but they payed far less than we did from a discount ticket place.  Bummer for us.  They were only a couple of rows behind us and to our left.  We had the nice leg room and no people in the way from our nice front row Mezz seats, though. :)

It was a wonderfully staged play, with suitably eerie atmosphere, with the lighting and sound to round out the excellent acting and script.

And dude, I do not know how those horse guys do all of the choreographed stuff on those hoof things.  It all looks so dangerous.

It was all thumbs up from the four of us.  I hope they get some Tony nominations.

The madness was at the Stage Door though.  There is no way to get near the front unless you are seated right by the doors.  We're talking about trying to go just to stand out there for an autograph before the show lets out.  I hope we can swing that.  I'd like to get some autographs on my Playbill, even if I can't get something HP signed.  I'll post some pictures if I got anything that is remotely good.

Just a few that were OK...

Happy Holidays... I'm on break. Woo!

I hope everyone is having a good holiday season!

For the Harry Potter fans who are still in a Christmas-y kind of mood I have a video I made for the cos_calender .  It's an Harry Potter advent calendar, so it's fun to check out all of the entries.  I worked on the video below and the Snape election team entry.
Both were lots of fun. :)

The video to Nat King Cole's The Christmas Song.  For some reason it popped into my head with Harry Potter scenes attached and so I made this. ;)

I recommend the higher quality version on youtube.  I used Vegas Pro 8 for the video.  I like that program.  I don't know how to output in widescreen though.  It keeps letterboxing.  I have to hunt for a tutorial...

Harry Potter: Snape - "Trust Me"

Elections... the Harry Potter version... and random stuff...

Yes, I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy with school and this mock election thing at the Chamber of Secrets message board. I'm relatively new there, but I ended up getting into this campaign thing. I joined Snape's team, of course. After two months of working on various challenges it's up to a final vote to elect the new Minister of Magic. It's been fun. All the characters post on the board, most are moderator controlled, but the teams get to control their candidates. So we've had fun, even if we've been given a tough time from the other teams. Aahh, such is politics... especially with a somewhat controversial candidate. ;) I'm happy to have been geeky over there for a while.

I'm probably most proud of the TV ad I did for the campaign. I tried out Vegas Pro 8, which is really cool. I wanted to try out moving text, since I never used text in my videos before. I think it turned out really well. I thought I'd share it. Our candidates are Severus Snape and Molly Weasley. We chose Molly to be his running mate out of a few available characters. It's been an amusing combo to work with, and they surprisingly work well together. I was highly amused while making this video, to say the least. :)

View in high quality if you can!

Oh and if anyone is curious and wants to see what else we did -- take a look at our final task thread.  We're currently behind by a couple of votes.  Of course, we'd love to win.  You could also give us a vote and make my day! ;)

Charlie and the new squeaky tennis ball

Just sharing some silliness. :)  I was trying to get a picture of him catching a ball.  I got some amusing ones, but this one killed me for some reason.  I dunno... maybe it's the "deer caught in the headlights" expression.  And yes, the ball is actually flying through the air.  It may not look real, but it is. :)

Put your pet in the movie!

Yes, I haven't posted in forever... I've been in lurker mode.  I had to share this though.

So at the Vegas convention last August, Jolene Blalock had some clips of the movie Starship Troopers 3, since she is in it.  She had a clip about the special Blu-ray content that included a feature to put yourself in the movie.  The first thing I thought of was that I wanted to put Charlie my dog in it.  Next thing she said was that you could put your pet in it too. LOL. So of course I had to rent the movie to try this out.

Here he is:

And there are more here, including the ones of him as a girl.  The general consensus is that he looks better as a girl... the poor thing.

And if you feel the need to see him slide into a scene in the movie, here you go... I took video!

Right Click to save and watch!

The movie itself is seriously campy.  It got OK when it had some semblance of a plot... and Jolene looked best when she was in some natural looking light... Her acting was better than in that Lifetime movie that she was in... that's good. LOL. :)

DMB is one member less now. :(

spellingwitch Just sent me the link that Dave Matthews Band saxophonist, LeRoi Moore passed away yesterday. Visited dmband.com and I just about lost it... I just listened to #41 because the first thing I thought of was that song would never be the same again... and then I actually lost it. This is probably my second favorite band behind the all might U2. I've been a fan of theirs since the last year of college when they started to get real radio play around here. I've seen them 8 or 9 times Live over the years. They are such a fun Live band and it's sad to think that they are incomplete now, in such a sudden way. Why do people have to die young?

It's gonna be DMB all day today. I'm so sad I didn't get to see them Live this summer. :(
