Escape Attempt #432 (Naruto)

*brushes dust off community*

So, I took a long, unintentional break from writing of any sort for a while, but I'm back now. Sort of. I'm slowly getting back into the swing of writing, having recently started work on, well, a very large and somewhat secret project.

However, in the course of stretching out the long-unused writing muscles, inspiration for this ridiculous bit of something-or-other came to me, so I took a short break from working on the big project to dash it out before I misplaced it (or tried to somehow write it into the other project, which would have been incredibly wrong).

All I can really say is that sometimes comedy is found in odd places. And my brain is a very, very, very odd place indeed.

Series: Naruto
Characters: Sakura, various Akatsuki
Word Count: 1,100
Genre: Comedy
Rating: M
Spoilers: the names of several Akatsuki members. Otherwise... not really
Warnings: Full-frontal male nudity. And swearing

The copyright to Naruto is still not in my possession, least I get bored and things like this happen in the actual story.

It's not like she asked to be kidnapped, constantly drained of chakra, and have her name changed to 'bait'.

Once, Twice, Again (Naruto)

Despite when it’s being posted, this is not a Christmas story in any way, shape, or form. It’s simply the time I finished it, and I wanted to release it unto the world internet quickly, before it (possibly) gets jossed by upcoming chapters of the Naruto manga.

This particular story is based on events in very recent chapters indeed (the 420something chapters, specifically), and there are certain assumptions I’ve made regarding recent/upcoming canon for the purposes of the story, since it’s set just after the currently running battle is over. However, as these assumptions are spoilers of the first order, I’ve hidden them. Highlight to read!
I’ve assumed that Kakashi really is dead, that Ino and Sakura survived the attack, that the village of Konoha still exists somehow, and that Naruto is back from hermit training and hasn’t been bijuu-napped or gone away again immediately after the attack is over.

Series: Naruto
Characters: Sakura, Ino, Naruto
Word Count: 1030
Prompt: #56 the beginning is the end is the beginning (64damn_prompts)
Genre: Drama/Romance?
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: up to ch427 of the Naruto manga
Warnings: There are mentions of a sexual relationship between a 16-year-old and a 30something-year-old, so it’s a little... umn... statutory. However, nothing sexual actually happens in the story.

I don’t own Naruto, and that will be unutterably obvious if/when this story gets jossed.

It hurts the most when you can actually feel your heart breaking.

Twist the Mirror Wheel (Naruto)

It’s possibly a good thing that I’ve gotten into writing Naruto fics, because inspiration has a tendency to hit me like a kunai between the eyes with no warning and I might as well be in a fandom where that's appropriate imagery. Such was the case with this piece, which for lack of a better category I’m going to call a story.

The tale of my latest inspiration goes thusly: I download music I’ve never heard before, toss it onto my media player, the Toy, and then listen to it while I’m at work to decide if I like it or not. One day not too long ago, I cued up A Perfect Circle “Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums” for the very first time, and listened to it. And then, when it was done I had to listen to it again, to make sure I’d really heard what I thought I’d heard. And that was when inspiration attacked me, and demanded that I write Itachi. Now. And that was how I ended up spending my lunchbreak that day with my lap full of paper, my earphones on, and that song looping over and over again in my brain, writing.

Itachi is a very hard character to pin down at the best of times. With the lack of motivation, explanation, or exposition for him so far in the series, he could be anything. He could be incredibly complex, or horrifically simple, it’s impossible to say.

I’m afraid that in this fic I’ve done absolutely nothing to change that. In fact, I may have twisted it into something even worse.

Series: Naruto
Characters: Itachi
Word Count: 889
Genre: Drama
Rating: T
Spoilers: There are almost no spoilers, except for one or two minor ones related to the Uchiha Massacre. However, being familiar with all things Itachi would probably help.

Naruto still isn’t mine. And that’s a good thing, too. I can’t even draw stick figures.

Thought, memory, and a place within the mind of Uchiha Itachi.

If Anyone Salutes (Naruto)

I’ve been writing too much serious stuff lately. Actually, I think I’ve been writing nothing but serious stuff for many months.

Well, today that pattern is changing. ^.^V!

And why is that, you ask? Because I get weird fic ideas while doing the dishes, apparently. No, really. I pretty much wrote this whole thing in my head during one bout of dishwashing. Maybe I ought to leash my mind to keep it from wandering so, but that wouldn’t be any fun.

I haven’t read very many good stories written in/for the time period in Naruto before the incident at the bridge. Which is sad. So, this little wander through my less-than-serious side is set somewhere during that endless round of stupid new-genin missions fron right at the very beginning of the series. Yay!

Y’know, I was going to make excuses for this fic, but then I had a revelation. I don’t need to make excuses. Because at this point in the storyline, they’re children. They’re fresh out of school, they’ve never done a ‘real’ ninja mission, they’ve never set foot outside of Konoha, and nothing really has happened to them yet.

And they’re twelve. So very, very much of this fic is explained by the fact that they’re twelve.

Series: Naruto
Characters: Naruto, Sakura
Word Count: 532
Genre: Comedy
Rating: G
Spoilers: So long as you’ve seen say, two episodes (any two, it doesn’t matter which), or read most of a volume (preferably the first one, but meh), or heck, even know the basic set-up of the goings on, there are no spoilers here.

I still don’t own Naruto. If I did, this might have happened in the series for real. Honestly, I don’t know why it didn’t.

Today is really not a good day to be Naruto.

Sequence Aberration (Naruto)

I thought I’d write something for Halloween this year. For no particular reason besides feeling like it, really. And it was even completed on time (miracles will never cease). I’m not so sure that this is an example of my best work, but it was dashed off in terrible speed and I was going more for atmosphere than attempting a work of literary genius in any case.

Well, at least I can say that someone involved in this is completely batshit insane, and for once it isn’t me. Hah!

Oh, and perhaps I should mention that there’s a light gore warning? It is meant to be Halloween-fic, after all.

I hearby formally apologize for this return - however brief - of effin’useless pre-timejump Sakura. *sigh*

Series: Naruto
Characters: Sasuke, Sakura
Word Count: 942
Genre: Horror
Rating: high-T
Spoilers: There aren’t really any spoilers, though I think it would possibly help to be at least partway through the Chuunin Exams arc.
Warnings: Gore, lots of blood

That’s right, I still don’t own Naruto. Yes, the lack of proprietorship burns, but you get used to it after a while.

Holding Patterns (Naruto)

I think I’ve finally given myself honest proof that I can’t write fluff, because when I sit down to write, fully intending to produce fluff, I get something which isn’t, in any way shape or form, fluff. I’m not quite sure what to categorize it as, but I’m very, very sure it isn’t fluff.
However, I also got to find out that if I sit down to write smut, uwah, do I get smut.

In any case, I didn’t get what I started out to make, and the bit I started out with as an idea now exists as nothing more than a shard buried somewhere within the rest of what's going on, but the critter wrapped itself around an interesting shadow of a plot/idea and I’m keeping it.

Though this is futurefic, there are - remarkably - no spoilers contained here at all. It’s certainly helpful if you’re caught up in the series, but it’s not a requirement at all. Even I’m not sure exactly how far into the future it is, but it’s certainly somewhere after everything that’s already happened so far.

(Ah, and before anyone mentions it; I know that the tense refuses to settle anywhere and changes around all over the place. This is mostly on purpose, and I’m honestly sorry to any grammarians who get twitches from it. It's not an oversight or a mistake, I swear.)

Series: Naruto
Characters: Sakura, Naruto, Sasuke
Word Count: 1,931
Genre: Drama/Romance
Rating: NC-17
Spoilers: Oddly, none
Warnings: Smut. Lots of smut.

I don’t own Naruto, which is probably a good thing, seeing as I’d never manage to produce a new chapter every week.

They’re balancing, the three of them, somehow.

Monday’s Child (Naruto)

Oh goodness, but my writing is blocked right now. Or stalled, as I usually put it, because that’s what it feels more like. Sort of less like beating one’s head on a wall than it’s like trying to get a car to start when there’s nothing but fumes in the tank.

In the end, that means that I dashed this bit of something-or-other off a few nights ago in an attempt to shake something loose. I’m still not sure if it worked for the intended purpose, but ah well at least something got written, ne? (I will say that it’s probably pretty telling that it took me four or five times longer to come up with a title than it did to actually write it.)

Series: Naruto
Characters: Ino
Word Count: 244
Genre: Portrait
Rating: G
Spoilers: There are no spoilers contained here, unless you are unaware of who Ino is. Actually, come to think of it, there’s still no spoilers if you don’t know that either.

I continue to not own Naruto. Yeah, that’s about the shape of it.

The Shape of the Cage (Naruto)

After entirely too much time writing and then weeks of poking, prodding, re-reading, and tense-checking, I hearby declare this story as finished and as ready for the public as it’s going to get.

For some unknown reason, I felt like writing something about Neji and Hinata's interactions during the timeskip, and this is the result. As I wrote the tense decided to settle somewhere itchy, Hanabi somehow got herself personally involved, a pairing I’d never even thought about before snuck in, and the story grew well beyond any of my initial estimates.

In all honesty, the story ended up bearing very little resemblance at all to my original concept and I’ve found I like it much better in this form.

I’ve probably taken some huge liberties with my characterization of Hanabi along the way. But since canon has pretty much next to nothing to say about her there was little choice but to do so. That said, I kind of like the way she ended up so I’m keeping her.

The Hyuuga family speak so incredibly formally, my goodness. Thus, honourifics have been left carefully intact, and what people don’t say is as important as what they do.

Series: Naruto
Characters: Neji, Hinata, Hanabi
Word Count: 6,183
Genre: Drama
Rating: T
Spoilers: This story contains spoilers for the Chuunin Exams arc, and the Valley of the End arc, as well as for post-timeskip Neji, Hinata, Kiba, Shino, and Akamaru.

I continue to not own Naruto, I just play with the characters a bit then put them back.

Oneiroi (Naruto)

Once again, I’ve found myself wandering onto new ground, writing-wise. Last weekend, somewhere near the tail end of a several-day-long writing binge I opened a fresh document and wrote this story, Oneiroi, all in one go straight from beginning to end. I’m still not quite sure where it came from. Nor do I quite know what to think of it.

Honestly, I’ve never written anything like this before, and I’m still coming to terms with being capable of doing so. Not particularly because it's smutty, but because it sort of makes my skin crawl. That said, after a very long internal debate and a lot of dramatic carrying-on about said debate in my personal journal I finally decided to post it, and I’d really like to know what people think of it.

Series: Naruto
Word Count: 777
Genre: Drama
Rating: NC-17
Spoilers: Nil, but being caught up at least to the timeskip would probably help.
Warnings: Adult content. Heterosexual sex. There's also a possibility that this could be taken as non-con.

I do not, in any way, shape, or form have even the tiniest piece of ownership in Naruto. I only play with it sometimes. Please don’t sue me, I’m obviously crazed.

*Untitled* (Naruto, WIP)

This is what basically amounts to the second draft of the first chapter of an idea that smacked me between the eyes recently. However, I’m not sure if I should continue with it. So, I’m putting it up in the hopes of getting some outside opinions on it that could help me make up my mind whether to keep writing it or not.

As far as Naruto canon is concerned, it can be assumed that everything up to and including the timeskip occurred as it did in the manga. After that, I’ve gone into AU territory.

Minor canon information that may be useful for the story (for those not past the chuunin exams in the series). Spoilers are vague enough to be practically nil:
