I am organising a festival for Alternative Parents and Parenting to be held in Melbourne, Australia. Time and Venue yet to be determined. For more information go to http://applefestival.makeforum.org and please leave your input.
Yes, we are taking a 13 month old baby on an 8 hour road trip. We must, frankly, be mad. However, I'm tired of being separated from my beloved and my offspring whenever I travel to Victoria.
So.
Mothers, give me your advice, words of wisdom etc.
I am starting to teach my almost-two year old son the "Time Out" corner as punishment for naughty behaviour. I have designated a corner of the loungeroom (away from his toys & the TV) to sit him in for 1-2 minutes when he is naughty. My question is this: Have any of you tried/use this method of discipline & have you got any tips or advice regarding it? Sebastian just giggles at me when I put him in the corner (even with my cranky-face on) & when I get down to his level & tell him what he has done wrong he just grins at me. Often he won't stay in the corner for more than 2 seconds & I firmly put him back (without making eye contact or smiling) & tell him again that he is in Time Out for doing whatever naughty thing he did. He seems to think it's a game. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
My son scribbled on his bedroom walls a few weeks ago (i think) and I MUST get it off, I'm in a rental and I'm positive they will detuct money from my bond if I dont get this off...
I've tried Mr Muscle, Sugar Soap, Nail Polish remover (which took paint off)
I just put this up for auction on eBay. I thought some of you might be remotly interested. Anyway the link is below. Also with the postage it is $4.80 but if you let me know that you are a member of this community after you win it I'll send it to you for free ('cause I'm nice!)
Has anyone here flown with a baby and bottles? My 9 month old and I are about to fly from Sydney (Australia) to Orlando (USA). The entire trip including 2 hours in San Francisco is 20 hours (at least). I'm figuring that I need about 6 bottles worth and 5 or 6 meals worth.
My main concern is how to do the bottle thing. I wish I was still breastfeeding as it wouldn't be an issue, but that was out of my control. Should I take 1 bottle or 6? Should I take the formula pre made-up, or take powder and my own water? Should I take pre made up bottles, or make them up on the plane.
She will drink formula cold, so I'm not too concerned about that, and I'm not too concerned about the whole sterilisation thing, as you should see the things she puts in her mouth.
It's just me and her, and I'm 4 months pregnant so it's going to be a bit difficult anyway.
And is she old enough to be given Fenurgan (an antihistamine) to help her sleep for most of the trip? (I'm going to check with my GP about this)
And is there anything else that I haven't thought of?
