the ball is very... queer safe space getting raided
interesting how they invoked this kinda... oppressive homophobic atmosphere in s2 that was much more subtextual in s1 i guess

Unfortunately- that mirrors the current times I feel like we're living in right now. :[

I think maybe... because *they* are much more open about their relationship, the contrast is harsher? In S1 they meet in secret and are still trying (if badly) to hide. Now Crowley slams the bookshop door in Shax's face, and she threatens *Aziraphale*, not Crowley himself. /I have just re-watched ep 3
Also just thank you for pulling this out, there is so much chatter in fandom about 3 million different theories and general flailing, that a lot of this stuff isn't getting noticed.

It was a bit of an adjustment for me to realize that everything, no, literally everything is about them. Like, I first watched the season and it felt disjointed, and I knew it would come together more once I started looking at themes and mirrors and such. But still that didn't seem like enough. It still felt odd. But finally I came to realize there is no other organizing principle at play here: it's only about them.

^^^^ This. I'm hungry for the takes that, I keep having to remind myself, we probably didn't get until a month into our collective flailing last time.
