Art shops in Moscow

1.FINE ARTS BOUTIQUE. Cozy and full of what I need. My favourite. Very good brushes.

2.PEREDVIJNIK. The first supermarket for artists in Moscow. Convenient.

3. ART SHOP on the 4th floor of DETSKY MIR (Huge 4-store shop for kids on Lubyanka square, go to the top 4th floor)  Not very kind shopgirls.

 

4. ART SHOP by the HOUSE OF ARTISTS.  Good framing service, too.
It is across the road from Gorky Park. If you stand on the road facing the huge white building of the Moscow House of Artists, the shop is a small red brick house on the left, next to the bridge.

For oil-painting class you need
1.Деревянная палитра (фанера), размер 20х30 см, круглая или прямоугольная. 1.Palette - plywood, 20x30, any shape: the classic kidney-shaped studio palette or the less elegant, but just as practical, rectangular palette.
2.Кисти щетинные плоские, №№ 2,4,6,8,10 - по одной или по две (особенно маленькие) каждого номера. 2.Bristle (made from pig's hair) brushes of flat shape.№№ 2,4,6,8,10 - one or two (for small sizes) each number
3.Мастихин удлиненной формы, как нож, изогнутый. Для того, чтобы счищать краску с палитры, смешивать краски - и писать. 3.Palette knives - serve the dual purpose of applying and removing paint to and from the picture surface and mixing paint on the palette, - as well as cleaning the palette. A medium sized long knife-shaped, bent one is suggested.
4.Масленка - для разбавителя. 4.Dipper - container for various dilutants and media.
5.Разбавитель №1 или №2, или уайт-спирит -  разбавлять краски, чистить палитру и кисти после работы 5.Dilutants are used as solvents to clean your brushes and palettes and to dilute your paint.
6.Картон разных размеров. 40х50,  20х30, 50х60 - по 2 штуки. 6.Carton (cardboard) - special paper for oil painting. Sizes 40x50, 20x30, 50x60 - two of each.

7.Краски масляные, большие тюбики (например, 46 см3 )

Производство Санкт-Петербург, Гамма, другие российские, т.к. они дешевле. Но - чем краски дороже - тем они лучше.

Белила цинковые или титановые (3штуки!), Кадмий желтый средний, Кадмий лимонный или Желтая Стронциановая, Кадмий оранжевый, Кадмий красный светлый, Краплак темный или светлый, Охра красная, Охра светлая, Кобальт фиолетовый, Кобальт синий, Ультрамарин, Железная лазурь, Кобальт зеленый темный и светлый, Изумрудный зеленый, Умбра натуральная, Окись хрома, Марс коричневый, Сиена жженая, Сиена натуральная, Черный (любой) или Сажа газовая.

7.Oil paints, big tubes (46 см3 for instance)

Made by SaintPetersburg, Gamma and other Russian companies - they are cheaper. But the more expensive they get - the better the quality is.

White zinc or titan (3 tubes!), Cadmium yellow medium, Cadmium lemon or Yellow Strontium, Cadmium orange, Cadmium light red, Craplac dark or light, Ochre red, Ochre light, Cobalt violet, Cobalt blue, Ultramarine,  Iron blue, Cobalt light green and dark green, Emerald green, Umbra natural, Mars brown, Sienna natural, Black (any)
