Per our post of May 27th, the OTW has not received any feedback for or against a change in this account. Therefore we are moving it to a "inactive" status, meaning it will not receive any further updates.

We urge anyone on LiveJournal who wishes to keep up with current information from the OTW to subscribe to the automated feed available here at otwnews (hit the subscribe button at the top left).

There is a also separate automated account for the AO3 News blog.

The OTW Communications Committee periodically reviews its news distribution process to best balance volunteer workload and the maximum reach possible for readership. For some years now readership of OTW news on LiveJournal has been declining and there has been little to no engagement on its news posts.

However readers are capable of utilizing RSS feed accounts on this site. There are already automated posts of anything added to the news blog on the OTW wesbite or AO3 news blog (which sometimes differ). On LiveJournal the account is otwnews (hit the subscribe button at the top left) and there is a separate account for the AO3 News blog.

The Communications Committee is proposing to end manually added blurbs and links to this account, and instead redirecting readers to subscribe to the feeds. This account will not be deleted, so its archives will remain open. There will simply be no further updates.

Today begins a 2 week feedback period from readers regarding this change, letting us know how many people are still reading, and what reasons those readers might have as to why the feeds would not serve the same function.

If you do comment, please let us know how long you have been reading this account and how often you click through to the website to read the full news posts. On June 5, we will post again with a decision.
