Original Ideas

Tonight, I was reading Dumas' The Three Musketeers again and I wondered: What period of time is romanticized in writing and other media most often? Because it is such an imposing question, I thought to pose it to the entire community. What do you think?

It could be in terms of years, or in terms of past, present, or future. There are many opportunities for a writer to romanticize all three. The past, since we tend to wonder what might have been in our individual pasts, and also because the distant past has always fascinated humanity as a whole. The present, since we also tend to daydream, and it tingles the imagination to think of the extraordinary occuring in our daily lives. The future, since it holds so much potential, and can be affected by so much. The future also holds the appeal for a writer since it is wholly unknown, and so one is able to do whatever one wishes when writing about the future.

I also began to wonder, in addition to time periods, what cultures and time periods in cultures is romanticized in writing most often? The period 1200-1800 Europe, the pioneer years of North America, and Medieval Japan are used as the backdrop for much writing.

Share your opinions, I am very curious to hear other's thoughts on this.

Ok guys I decided to make a new challenge since there has been a lull in the community, Challenge commence!! Here goes:

Descriptions:
Character 1: purple hair, brown eyes
Character 2: green hair, yellow eyes
The characters have a difference in height, one is rather short, the other rather tall
(the shade color of the hair and eyes is up to you, like light or dark and length of hair is up to you too since you might not like how it looks)

The couple is: unusual, one character is a rock/gothic type who meets a shy/quiet type. The shy one is transfixed at how the rock type dresses an acts so they follow that one around and eventually something happens ;p

Rules:

1. All kinds of couples are allowed (boy/girl, boy/boy or girl/girl) it's up to the artist/writer

2. You can draw them or write about them, or both :)

3. If you're drawing them, you can pick these choices to draw them 1. profiles of the face 2. full body pose 3. when we first met 4. beach 5. I see stars 6. I will love you forever
You can choose to draw all 6 if you're really bored, I would love to see how well every one decides to draw them XD 3-6 you can draw any way you think it sounds to you

4. If you're writing about them then you can 1. talk about how they met, 2. a day at the beach, 3. something to do with stars, 4. a theme where they say I will love you forever or something to do with that or 5. Free choice! (writers must remember to leave in the description I put as well as their own if they decide which character is what gender)

5. Magical things can be involved, like they could do magic or could be super heroes etc.

6. You name them, whether the names be Japanese, American, French, Spanish, it doesn't matter! ^.^

7. Any questions or asking for advice just leave a comment to this post!

(Sorry that most is up to you guys! But that will help them make them more yours!! And I haven't tested what the colors look like together, so sorry if they look odd!)

You don't have to partake in this. I can't draw any prizes or do anything, it's up to you if you feel like doing it, if you're bored, feel free to do this. If you think it's interesting, by all means draw or write about it! etc. etc.

Once this challenge ends I'll issue another couple that is totally different or something but after a break. You can submit your things any time, just write a new post. This will end August 12th depending on how successful I may extend it. Happy writing and drawing!

Hello, all, my name is Brittany. This is a small community, but I very much like the idea of it. One question before I begin posting my work. Is this a fanfic community, or is any kind of writing allowed?

Gee now I feel really guilty! ^^; No one is posting anything in here! So, I wanna know if I should post another challenge to get the community kicking? Not a contest, a challenge! There won't be any prizes, sorry I'm way too busy to give out rewards but anything you want to post here whether it be stories or pictures then please do! <3 And let me know if I should issue a challenge because I so will ^_~

Well, I dunno how long I planned on for the voting to end, but if you haven't done so please do, ok? I can't really decide until I get your ideas on the icons since my imagination hasn't been very creative lately X3 I'd probably say cute for all of them or something... anyways, I re-made my original website that I created with a long time ago with my friend wolves_shryne and my cousin hanaokaika. The site is called http://moon2earth.topcities.com and is currently under construction though I have something up for each of the links. Due to the fact wolves_shryne no longer has a computer she uses at home and hanaokaika has made her own sites, I've made the site my own now. However, I'm still going to put up some more stuff that we originally planned on putting there, favorite actors/actresses, bands etc. etc. Take a peak if you will and lemme know if everything works or doesn't work or just to say what you think so far! Hmm... since this is all I received, and it's only a CHALLENGE, everyone will get an icon ^.^ How you will vote is, vote for EACH submission! Well today is the last day of my cousin's contest, I don't believe there will be any new submissions but I'll keep it open until the 3rd, even though it ends TODAY people could like put it up at 11:59 or something ^^; So by tomorrow no more entries will be taken =p And then I suppose my cousin will think up prizes... I still need to figure out how the voting will take place for MY contest that ended a while ago x.x Please bare with me... I'm quite busy.
