Day 93 - Evening
Ah, vacation! There's no joy quite like it. Going on a little get-away to Bob’s European stronghold had been a brilliant idea—now, she had this whole expanse of fresh water to herself! Her husband had been frantically calling out to her as she ran to the end of the dock, something about not treating such an important landmark for the history of Mazoku on Earth like her own private beach. Jennifer didn’t see the harm in it; the box was already gone, after all, so shouldn’t someone do the lake the favor of enjoying its clear, beautiful water? A satisfied smile on her face, she looked down from the sparkling lake to admire her swimsuit of choice. Her favorite pastel yellow, the suit was adorned with a plethora of purple ribbons. Nodding eagerly, she decided it was time to get wet. Before making the big dive, she leaned forward to gently poke the surface of the water with her foot, only getting a few toes wet.
Or rather, that’s what she meant to do—but the lake seemed to have its own ideas about that. Before she knew it, her foot was entirely submerged in the water, as if something had tugged down on her toes. She barely had time to let out a surprised yelp before she had overbalanced and gone tipping down into the lake, her arms flailing wildly.
Oh my, that black hole must be a recent addition to the lake. Bob didn’t mention he was remodeling, Jennifer mused as she went plunging deeper into the water. Everything went black not long after.
Opening her eyes again, she blinked a few times to clear her blurry vision. A ceiling made of some expensive-looking smooth stone greeted her vision, much to her surprise. Immediately, she sprung up into a sitting position, her head whipping around to take in her new surroundings. A wide, awe-stricken smile spread across her face as she loudly exclaimed, “Oh my! It’s exactly like something out of a fairytale!” She found herself partially submerged in the water of what appeared to be a fancy, warm swimming pool (it was far too large to be a bath, at least). It had to be part of a castle—had she made her way into another world? It must be some special Shibuya family charm!
