“Two enormous green eyes had appeared among the leaves." Finished in a night

Gouache paints with coloured pencil on watercolour paper.

Last night I had some time to myself, and while I used it as I should - I painted, I decided not to work on the next Oz painting (which is all ready to go and what I was planning on doing) but rather a little something just for me.

I had recently decided I wanted to use this vignette drawing for the illustration that’ll go on the slipcase. And with the free time I had, I thought I’d be able to do it in the night... and I was!

Not much to say about it... I’m happy with it. The green of the leaves and Dobby’s eyes, will go great with the new green motif the book will have going for it, which will make more sense once I’ve finished the new cover painting, which will likely be the painting after the next... or at the very latest after the one after that!

Anyway, here it is:

Mudbloods and Murmurs Completed

I finished this piece last week, but because I for some reason feel the need to post a chapter illustration with it’s accompanying vignette drawings, I had to wait till today to actually post it. But it’s finished and now the drawing are as well.

Since it’s beginning stages, I’ve been pleased with Ron, it’s one of my favorite drawings (and now paintings) I’ve done of him. It’s unfortunate it’s such an embarrassing moment for the character, but at the same time, it’s just so him. And frankly, there’s still plenty of time left in the series for Ron to have more heroic moments.

Anyway, here are the vignette drawings and painting, for Chapter 7 of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Mudbloods and Murmurs

Next I have Chapter 4 of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the works. I’m hoping to have it completed this week.

Harry Potter and History

A reader's companion for the Harry Potter series that takes history out to play

Harry Potter and History was written by a group of historians who are also Harry Potter fans (many of them active here on LJ), who decided to research how the wizarding world is rooted in real history. The wizarding world is both magical and historical, after all, and it's fun to explore how things like bezoars, potions, spells, the Wizengamot and the Ministry, and Hogwarts itself are all rooted in Muggle history. The book has a timeline that compares wizarding history with real history, and discusses topics like how the Malfoys stack up against real English aristocrats, and the history of werewolves.

If you like history and Harry Potter, you'll enjoy this.

Bonus Potter Art

I decided on what the bonus illustration would be for the Chamber of Secrets illustrations. I was thinking it would be fun to do a "photo" of Lockhart - signed and everything ;o)

Feels Like it's Been Forever

Feels Like it's Been Forever

It feels like it's been a long time since I posted, even though I've been doing much better this month than the last. November I think I posted twice at most. Anywho....

As I've spoken about multiple times, I've been slowly plugging away at some art. I finished the next Potter-Painting a little while ago, but was waiting to share it till I finished the vignette drawings that go with it. Which I finished the day before Christmas. And now that the holiday has past, I had the time to post 'em ;o)

So here they are, the paintings and vignette drawings for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter Six: Gilderoy Lockhart.

As usual - clicky to see em' biggie   -er

I hope (if you celebrate it) you had a Merry Christmas! Yay baby Jesus! :o)

Alivan's Wand for Sale

Hey everyone! I'm trying to raise money for college, so I've been auctioning off a lot of my stuff. Want a wand, like the ones in Harry Potter? One of the items I have up for auction is a real Solitaire Collection wand from Alivan's Wandmakers!

Please check it out:

Alivan's Solitaire Collection Harry Potter Magic Wand

All of these auctions will support my college fund. This is a wand that I won in a Sparkle on the Alivan's facebook page; unfortunately, I haven't had time to use it, and I won't be able to take it to college with me. It is a new & unused Solitaire Collection wand made of Rosewood and Cherry wood. It's a little over 15".

What's significant about the Solitaire Collection is that each wand is unique: only one is made of each kind. Therefore, the prices on the Alivan's site for such wands range from $60 to over $100. With this auction, you can get it for much cheaper ($20 is the current price)! Solitaire wands also have more magic power. :)

Anyway, that's all for now. Please offer your support if you can. My college costs $50,000 a year, so it would really help if you could contribute by bidding on or purchasing one of my items!
