WAKEY WAKEY!

Hello my fellow Ohio drummers! It is I, the almighty and great one, Abby (erm). Since today was Day 2 of my Pre-Camp and I'm super in the mood for band to REALLY start (blah, pre-camp is boring... marching basics all week for the n00bs. I want to PLAYYY!), I'd thought I'd give a little shout and see how you guys are doing. My line's doing pretty good. I'm on tenors again. I'm drumline center and co-drumline section leader. Yeah, it's gonna be pretty awesome. Our show is an original piece for the 3rd year in a row written by a pretty kick ass composer by the name of Shane Kelbley. He has failed to let me down. When I heard the synthesized version of the first song at our banquet in May, I REALLY didn't like it and I thought the show (which is entitled "Flight of the Eagle") was going to be lame and patriotic and such. But now that we're adding percussion and now that I've heard the synthed versions of all the songs. I REALLY like it. If anyone is interested in listening to those, I can give you a link to them (but they don't have the majority of the percussion parts in it since our percussion instructor writes our parts after Shane writes the wind parts and rough sketches of some percussion stuff that he'd like to hear). It's pretty sweet it's like solo and duet city in wind player-land. Jealous! We don't have any snare, tenor, or bass solos (I don't think). But we will have a percussion feature of some kind. But yeah, EXCITING STUFF!

Now, back to business. Silly of me not to ask way back when, but assuming most of you guys compete, what circuits do you compete in? We at good old Bishop Watterson HS compete in OMEA (blah) and MSBA (yay!). I have my schedule for this season somewhere, but right now I'm too lazy to search for it. Maybe later...

Well, talk to you all later hopefully and best of luck!

So,has anyone else here named any of their drums? Y'know, after awhile they kinda become like a lover, making music with them and all, so it feels weird not to name them.. my Quads are named Conant. :) One name; four times the marching lovin'. I'll post a picture of him in all his sexxiness later.

In other news, do y'all know how I might be able to go about fixing a snare without actually having to drag it to a music store and pay for the proceedure? The coils on the bottom of the snare of my set are a bit bent and loose.. so it doesn't get that nice ring to it. I've tried tying them closer with rope, and duct tape, and a variety of other things.. but alas, it's been fairly futile thus far.

promoting.

Hey guys and gals.  Just as I excpected, this community has stopped.  We need some promoting.  I know that some communities don't like promoting so put it in a nice LJ-CUT so we can respect their privicy.  Here is a somewhat crappy banner made in paint but gets that point across.    Woot Woot go me.  Ok well anyway...can we promote?  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/…  here's that linky thing...

thanks again

hey! questions for everyone!

how many do you guys march on battery for marching band and/or indoor?

For marching band.. my group normally marches 4-5-2 (snares, basses, tenors; respectively)

For indoor... my group (this year) is marching 5-5-3-5 (snares, basses, tenors, plates; respectively)

which brings me to my next question.!

do you guys have indoor lines? and if so, what circuit are you guys in?

My winterline is called Apex Winter Percussion. We've been in exsitance for.. 3 years (before that we were the Amelia drumline) our first year (I wasnt in it) we got first place at championships for our class.. awoohoo.! and last year.. we swept the competitions (first in our class everytime) except for championships.. where we lost my like 9 tenths of a point.. blagh. This year, we're in the Tri-State Circuit.. and we're in WGI. So that should be uber amounts of fun.

and now my Final question!

If you guys have an indoor line.. what's your show this year?

My group is going a five senses show called Sensory Overload.. it's pretty cool.

that's all :)
