It's the year 2020. For 13 years the MMORPG The World has been out and gained popularity over time. As of 2020 there is a countless number of people playing the large game, as well as a expansion including new weapons, items, armor, and two classes. Rumours have appeared that if sales continue to do well then CC Corp. will release another expansion pack in years to come -- and many players of the game look forward to and speculate what sort of new classes and items and weapons could be included within a rumoured expansion. Perhaps even new areas as well, and monsters too.

But with it being just pure speculation and all player-theories and hopes the players continue on with their day to day lives -- in game and out of it.

Lately, however, odd things have been happening within The World. Glitches in certain areas being reported by players, thus causing an area to be shut down for maintance or repair; monsters that are double the level appearing in an area that they had never inhabited before, thus scaring newbie players off to a more low-level area before even thinking of going to the area again. Items not working properly. Weapons lowering in stats and value. Most of these problems are odd and small, but the big one is dealing with the glitches in the special areas and dungeons that the players visit.

The debugging squad and certain administrators check everything out, making sure things are in working in order, before allowing entry to the area once again. But, if a complaint is sent in again then that area is shut down for good until any and all repairs can be fixed. Or until further investigation into the reoccuring glitches can be figured out.

As more players show up a higher fluctuation of PKers also appear, cutting their way through newbies and even experienced players. Administration is doing the best they can to reassure everyone that things will be under control and they are doing their best, working day and night to make sure The World is a fun place for all of their players.


And the question that remains hung in the air seems to be: "What's happening in The World, in all the waves of data and folds of memory, to be causing this to happen?"

Well, every game has them and you have to obey the rules if you plan on playing/staying in the game. They're the essentials!

>> Respect your fellow player and show them common courtesy. If you have a problem with someone and what they're doing, take it up with one of the mods because we're here to help and WE will discuss the matter with the player. Don't go off and take matters into your own hands. That's how drama starts.

>> OOC/RL knowledge =/= IG knowledge. If things were being talked about OOCly then your character would not know about it IGly, not unless the player(s) tell you that it would be okay for the character to know it.

>> Regarding slash and het: This community is friendly to both. There will be no bias shown towards a player if they decide to have their character like members of the same or opposite sex. We're open to both types of relationships developing. Just keep it down to a minimum, please? Some players might not be comfortable with it (may it be slash or het.)

>> Cut tags are lovely and friendly! Post all logs behind a cut and be sure to include who is a part of it, where it's at, when it took place, the rating of it (G, PG, PG13, R, NC17), and if there are any warnings to go along with it.

>> Logs? Yes, we'd love to read those so post all of them. Logging makes for good character interaction and helps develop character relations. :)

>> No killing other characters without consent from the player. If you have Player Killer type character I understand fully that they, well, PK others. But most of these 'others' be NPCs and not the actual characters, unless you get consent from the player ahead of time. Although realism is also nice, so if your character is a level 4 newbie going up against a level 18 PK, character death is probably going to happen. But that's why The World has Resurrects. ♥

>> DO. NOT. GOD MODE. Hopefully this one is self explanatory. Your character is not all-powerful or immune to every single thing. Don't have him/her constantly dodge attacks and never get hurt. Don't have them pick up level 50 weapons out of nowhere, or say that they managed to trade two Fortune Wires for a Health Drink. Do NOT control another person's character without their consent on the matter, either. That is unacceptable behavior and will get you a warning.

>> Grammar and the understanding of the English language would be nice. Yes, some players' first language may not be English, but please be sure to spell check and, if you're having trouble with some things, try to spell it to the best of your abilities or ask someone. None of us will bite.

>> Update your journals or a log at least once a week or so, just so we know you're alive and active.

>> If you have any questions e-mail the mods or post to the OOC. We'll be sure to get back to you with an answer as soon as we can.

roleplay experience: How long have you roleplayed for? How many months/years/etc? What previous games have you been a part of? Just curious to know if you're new to this or if you're veteran of roleplaying.

your character's name: Please include their real name and ingame name, in that order.
position: a regular player? part of CC Corp? Administrator? Cobalt Knight? Player Killer? Please note that Tartarga are chosen by the mods after the character has already been made.
character class and level: what in-game class are they? (a list of classes + descriptions can be found right here)

character history: You know, what happened in their past and how they got to playing 'THE WORLD'

character personality: How do they behave and act? Please include 'out of game' and 'in game' personality within here. Sometimes players decide to play their character within THE WORLD differently from how they really act.

character appearance and avatar: What does you character look like IG and IW? Please keep in mind that only canon characters can be used for IW avatars. If this confuses you, check here. (Also, before you actually choose an avatar, please look the avatar master post and see whether the character you want to use is already taken. :) You can describe the IW avatar verbally or just include a link to a picture; either way, please specify which fandom you're drawing the avatar from.

third-person writing sample: a paragraph of your character doing something. It can be them in game or out of the game, whichever you choose.


e-mail the application to oftheworld.mods[@]gmail.com with the subject of THE WORLD in the subject bar, as so we know you're applying for a character. Once the application is recieved it may take a day or two to get back to you, so keep patient and you'll see if you have been accepted or not.

Once you have been accepted you can go to the task of creating your character journal and joining the comms (oftheworld, oftheworldlogs, oftheworldooc); when you're done doing that, please respond to this post and this one.
