Hi Anon!

Okay, so, I’ve done my research into the old mass censorship bans on fan fiction and I’m pretty sure that AO3 is safe because they’re anti-censorship.

We know that on AO3 Dead Dove is safe, you should just use proper tagging and archive warnings when applicable. So, what I’ve gathered is that on AO3, they’re leaving nasty comments on darker works, but they can’t really do anything against it. Because in AO3’s content policy, they won’t remove much, mainly only if it includes links for the author to have monetary gain from fan fiction or if it has links to other places that are…not good. I would recommend checking out the content policy if you’re worried. I’m really not worried because what I gathered from my research is that AO3 was formed in response to Strikethrough back in 2007.

With Tumblr…I don’t know. I’m hoping it doesn’t end up like Strikethrough and Boldthrough back with Live Journal, but I don’t know. I’m hopeful that the whole setup of Tumblr gives them pause and I mean, Tumblr hasn’t EXPLICITLY banned mature content or Dead Dove. These don’t violate the terms of service or allowed content so, I’m hopeful it should be fine.

If you’re worried I would recommend checking out fanlore.org and their page on Strikethrough and Boldthrough as well as AO3’s content policy and TOS as well as Tumblr’s.
