Seems I was lucky enough to contribute some songs to his last folk club/musical gathering in Te Aroha last month. It was a really lovely evening of song and poetry from various ppl. Phil ended the evening off by singing 'Rain bird sings in a Tea Tree' and playing his 12-string guitar which he said he hadn't touched for some weeks due to being in hospital recently. He seemed well that evening, although sadly his wife had passed away around Christmas time and this was obviously a great loss. I'm so glad I got to see him and be there at that last folkie evening. The NZ folk music scene will miss him hugely.
