Avalonian Training Intensive - July 16 - 19, 2009

Blessings All,

The Sisterhood of Avalon has been sponsoring Avalonian Training Intensives around North America and Great Britain since 1998. These four-day residential Intensives allow women to learn Avalonian ritual, techniques, tools, and philosophy from an experiential perspective. Come to connect with the Goddesses of Avalon, immerse yourself in the transformational spiritual traditions of the Celtic Britons, and learn how to heal and empower yourself as you align with the Cycles of the Universe.

Level One - Calling the Barge

The Level One Intensive is for all women seeking the Ways of Avalon. For newcomers to the Goddess Path, it is an excellent starting point; for women who have been engaged in this journeying, it is sure to deepen connections both with the Lady and with the self, from an empowering Avalonian perspective. The SOA Level One Intensive is open to all women, members and non-members alike.

The next Level One Intensive is July 16 - 19, 2009 in New York State, and the all-inclusive price includes workshops, lodging, and vegetarian meals.

Detailed information packets and registration materials are available upon request. Space is limited. If you are interested in attending or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at intensives@ sisterhoodofavalon.org. Our complete 2009 Workshop Schedule, with sites in NY, CA, GA, OH and Saskatoon, SK can be found here: http://www.ynysafallon.com/SOA2009…

NYC locals take note!

From June 22-28, Just Food, a non-profit organization that works to develop a just and sustainable food system in the New York City region, will be sponsoring "Pollinator Week", a series of events in Manhattan that highlight the use of local honey in food and drink. In part these events are designed to bring public attention to a drive to legalize beekeeping in New York City.

Kicking off the week will be the First Annual Beekeeper's Ball at Pier 17, South Street Seaport on Monday, June 22 from 6-11pm. On Thursday the 24th, fifteen Manhattan bars and restaurants will be featuring signature dishes and drinks that incorporate locally harvested honey. On Saturday the 26th, the Union Square farmer's market will be having a "honey fest" featuring local beekeepers and their wares.

As part of Pollinator Week, I will be one of the speakers at Jimmy's #43 on June 25th at 6pm. This is a fundraiser for Just Food, admission is $10. The evening includes a screening of "Hidden Hives", a movie about urban beekeeping. Representatives from the Manhattan Meadery and the Long Island Meadery will be present to let you sample their commercially available offerings. I will be speaking about the art of making homebrewed mead, and may have some of my own stuff for people to try.

"Bee" there!

please sign this petition against kathy lee for her remarks

The links now work thanks to Night Flower. Please pass this on.

Greetings,

It has been a long time since I have posted, hoping some may remember me, and hope all are doing well :)

"As much as His Highness is trying to conserve his energy for Sirius Rising and Starwood some challenges do find him that need to be dealt with. He and Jordan take their role within this very diverse combination of tribes very seriously. They are only about two hundred signatures short of the needed five thousand to protest Kathy Lee Giffords thoughtless negative remarks about pagans."

Being as the Video The Faery King Posted is important, as well as the Petition regarding Nasty Pagan's I am hoping I have created WORKING links to both.

Kathy Lee Gifford's derogatory remark on The Today Show

I just found out that on June 25th Kathy Lee Gifford, host of The Today Show, made a derogatory comment about pagans. I first found out this morning in an e-mail and then found it on a group on CafeMom. She was doing a wedding segment and asked people why the wedding ring was worn on the left hand ring finger.

Kathy Lee: Why do you wear your wedding band on your left hand ring
finger? Is it because (a) most people write with their right hand? Is
it (b), because Egyptians believed that finger follows the vein of
love to the heart, or (c), the Pagans -- the nasty, bad Pagans --
believed it was bad luck to wear metal on your right side?

OMG! A lot of pagans are writing The Today Show to demand that she publically appologize. If she had said something like this about any other religion then there would be a public outrage.

The video of Gifford's comment can be found at the link following, about 5 minutes in: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/2113…

E-mails can be sent to : today@nbc.com

Also, a petition has been started http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/q…

X-posted

Hello from East Meadow

Hello everyone! My name is Jessica and I'm a 30 year old ecclectic pagan living on Long Island. I know this group is mostly for NYC but since you have Long Island listed in your interests I hope it's OK that I'm here. :D

I moved here with my two children (ages 7 and 3) a year ago (was born and raised on Long Island but spent the past 10 years in California). My husband, who is Asatru, will be joining us at the end of October.

Even though I've been here a year I haven't made many friends. Mostly I hang out with my sister and her friends. While they're all great people, I miss having pagan friends. In California practically everyone I knew well was pagan. It's just the opposite out here.

So I'm looking to meet people and hopefully strike up some friendships. :D

*hugs to all*
