Update: Shows Cancel After Haymarket Car Bomb

UPDATED, Fri 29 Jun 2007 @ 5.00pm: Some shows have now cancelled performances. Details are listed in bold below.

Theatregoers heading to shows around Piccadilly Circus today may have their plans disrupted following a bomb threat that has left many streets, including Haymarket, cordoned off.

The main theatres affected are the Theatre Royal Haymarket (currently showing The Last Confession with David Suchet) and Her Majesty’s (The Phantom of the Opera on Haymarket, the Prince of Wales (Mamma Mia! on Coventry Street, the Comedy Theatre (Boeing-Boeing) on Panton Street, and, on Piccadilly Circus, the Criterion (The 39 Steps).

It’s expected that police will have the area cleared and all businesses reopened ahead of the shows’ performance times. Theatregoers are advised to follow media reports, including the BBC News website, and check with box offices later today in the case of cancellations.

The West End incident began in the early hours of this morning when a suspicious vehicle was reported parked in Haymarket. A “potentially viable explosive device” was discovered on the scene and defused by police. In addition to sealing several streets from traffic, Piccadilly Circus Tube station was closed.

Today’s 5.00pm matinee of Mamma Mia! has now been cancelled, as have the evening performances, at 7.30pm and 8.00pm, of The Phantom of the Opera and The Last Confession.

Cheap beer

Our event at the weekend went fairly well, but people didn't drink as much beer as expected. So we've got an awful lot of beer that hasn't been drunk. So if anyone would like some rather nice beer for £2 a bottle, please let me know. If anyones going to Brighton New Year - I could probably bring it with me...

Say No to Domestic Violence

Some of London's top-notch comedians will match wits against a pick of lucky guests - all to raise funds to help end domestic violence!

'No Slap, Just Tickle' is Tender's annual 'stand-up' against domestic violence comedy event. On Sunday 27th November the night will feature an ultimate comedy quiz panel - including Kevin Day, Stephen K Amos, Simon Munnery and other class-act funny-men. The comedy will top off a night of intense show-downs between our guest teams at a Pub Olympic Thriathlon - including pool, table football and giant Scalextric. Teams from the London Metropolitan Police, Surrey Cricket Club and the comedy circuit are preparing to go head-to-head to take the championship title at this extreme night of pub athletics. All procedes will benefit the Greater London Domestic Violence Project.

The night will include an auction of signed football and movie memorabilia, including Pele’s shirt, the 1966 winners, Christopher Lee in the Man With The Golden Gun and Sigourney Weaver in Alien.

Don’t miss your chance to be a spectator to the games (£15) and mingle with our comedians and celebrities in the funky-sophisticated surroundings of the CC Club, Piccadilly Circus.

Or you can compete! Bring up to 6 players (£25 each team ticket), warm up with a few pints, and prepare to compete for the championship title – a place on the comedy quiz panel.

To order spectator tickets (£15) go to TicketWeb or call 08700 600 100

For team tickets or more information contact Nikki at 0207 431 7278

Venue: CC Club, Piccadilly Circus, 13 Coventry Street

The event is one of a range of exhibitions, discussions and shows around London to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, including events by Amnesty International and the Mayor's Office, and will raise funds for the Greater London Domestic Violence Project.

Cars

Our charity has just been donated a car... Anyone got any bright ideas of the easiest way that we can sell it, or does anyone want to buy a car?

The car is an M (1994) reg Polo, 1.3 litre engine, 3 door hatchback in Purple. the MOT was done in June this year so it is valid for a year. Central locking (but no lock to open the car on the passenger side, has to be done by the drivers side.), electric windows, no air conditioning, but power steering. I have recently had the clutch replaced so that should be fine for a good few years. Eventually the Manifold may need replacing, but it is fine for now. Tax is paid for until December.

I don't have any photos, yet but you are welcome to come and have a look at it, i currently live in Windsor.

Serving the Hunter

Due to circumstances beyond ou control we have had the site for Serving the Hunter withdrawn.

Never Fear!!! With some amazing stroke of luck we have managed to book another site on short notice.

Serving the Hunter will now be held at Cuffley.

We realise this may not be as convenient for some of our players and crew. We can only apologise for this but unfortunately the only other choice was to cancel the event which we dont want to do.
If anyone has any difficulties please contact us via the contact details in your event pack.

We thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

Hart Command

Please spread the word. We're probably going to reopen player spaces too...

Last time it was manic and all the good stuff went early. All the people I know have left so I have no idea whether they're going to make things more expensive this time round...
