New Orleans Police Department

Lost a couple officers in the last months. The one in the freeway accident, and the other female just recently delivering committment papers. Got the black bands going on, on the badges... Which looks especially cool on the Second district building badge. I don't know if that makes any good sense to mention...

A couple more murders lately on the news. This one black sociologist talking about how he doesn't understand what the big deal is, "Black people get killed all the time, I don't know why they are making such a big deal about this old white guy walking to his car during Jazzfest."

I can't believe that not only are people still turning murders and news into racism, but the fact that he said it so nonchalantly, like the other deaths aren't important either.

Signs going up in a particularly high crime neighborhood... "Thou shall not kill." I don't think god controls it as much as the law.

Woo, news article souly based on how "Tough" the Academy is. Push ups.. more Push ups.. yelling... more yelling. Hah. Still in desperate need of 250 officers. So anyone reading this -- Get your butts to City Hall and apply! Wouldn't everyone like posts like Jazzfest, where you just stand around and listen to great music and eat great food for free? This town rocks.

YES. I am on to backgrounds, which should be a little less stress free than all the written testing. NOPD here I come.

I was just reading through some other journals, came across a bush_sucks forum community, and it reminded me about something someone told me not too long ago. To all you Bush hate mongers out there, Here is an example of freedom of speach ; A resident of the Orleans Parish was driving 10 miles over the speed limit, too bad for her an NOPD officer was just within a short radius of her car. He pulls her over. Right then he notices her "Fuck Bush" bumper sticker. He comments on the fact that her speeding is one thing, but that sticker isn't tolerable. TICKET.

Chatted with one of my buddies today... Busy day with the Department... Atleast the 6th district. Really big murder investigation that took place on 8th and Baronne. I am glad he had some coffee!! Also another murder in Jefferson Parish area. But hey, it's less crime than LAPD deals with! He also said he is thinking about looking into my app and the status... In need of alot of officers on the street. But that's nothing new... Still waiting on the ride along. "After you get out of the Academy..." Prick.

This is a closed community because as alot of law enforcement chatroom passer-bys and journal readers might know, there are alot of people out there who like to talk shit to officers online and start something. Especially a specific department that at times doesn't have the best rep. I want it to be clear, that this community is strictly for people who respect the law and do or hope to work for the department, to talk about experiences on the job. I am glad you joined the community even though you are not NOPD. This is a pretty crazy town and all the law enforcement branches need to stick together! Alot of people talk about New Orleans not being a very officer friendly town, but when I am out talking about the job and academy and how I can't wait to start, the officers seem very talkative and enthusiastic.

Although I'm not NOPD, I'm testing for Criminal and Civil Sheriff for Orleans Parish. I'm very happy to see a new community for local Law Enforcement. Thanks for making this.
