Wet suit
A wet suit is a clothing item introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It allows the player to go swimming in the sea and catch sea creatures.
Wet suits, along with diving and sea creatures, were added in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in Wave 1 of the Free Summer Update.
Usage
While wearing a wet suit, the player can enter the sea by pressing while standing on the shoreline; alternatively, the player can jump from a cliff into the sea. While in the water, the player can press
repeatedly to swim (in New Horizons,
can be held to swim more slowly) and press
to dive underwater for a brief time. If the player touches a sea creature while diving, they automatically resurface and show off the creature.
A wet suit covers any top, bottoms, or dress-up clothing the player is wearing, although it does not remove them. In New Leaf, a wet suit cannot be placed on a mannequin. In New Horizons, a wet suit cannot be worn into the changing room at the Able Sisters or saved to a wand.
Obtaining
In New Leaf
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, wet suits come in eight patterns and are obtainable only on Tortimer Island in exchange for 40 medals. Along with several other tools, a rental wet suit is available while the player is on the island.

In Pocket Camp
While swimming and wet suits do not exist in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, the fish-logo diving suit dress resembles a wet suit.

Trivia
- If the player gets out of the water at night in New Leaf, they will shiver.
- If the player creates a save file after Wave 1 of the Summer Update in New Horizons, a wet suit is able to be bought from Tommy on the first proper day, and the player is able to access the places usually inaccessible at that point, even before Blathers gives them the recipe for the vaulting pole.
- In New Horizons, if the player jumps into the ocean from the Airport dock, the Pier, a portruding landmass or a flat rocky surface, they will stop in their tracks and perform a somewhat careful jump into the ocean. However, if the player is running as they jump, they will perform a front-flip jump instead. The animation for entering the ocean from a beach stays the same regardless of whether the player is running or not.
Notes
- ↑ Re-Tail sell price; if item can be sold at Timmy and Tommy's store, it is 80% of the sell price; if item can be sold to Leila at Tortimer Island, it is 5% of the sell price.
