We live together, we act on, and react to, one another, but always and in all circumstances we are by ourselves. The martyrs go hand in hand into the arena; they are crucified alone. Embraced, the lovers desperately try to fuse their insulated ecstasies into a single self-transcendence; in vain. By its very nature every embodied spirit is doomed to suffer and enjoy in solitude. Sensations, feelings, insights, fancies-- all these are private and, except through symbols and at second hand, incommunicable. We can pool information about experience, but never the experiences themselves. From family to nation, every human group is a society of island universes.

- The Doors of Perception, Aldous Huxley

All we have to believe with is our senses, the tools we use to perceive the world: our sight, our touch, our memory. If they lie to us, then nothing can be trusted. And even if we do not believe, then still we cannot travel in any other way than the road our senses show us; and we must walk that road to the end.

- American Gods, Neil Gaiman

The one thing that we yearn for in our living days, that makes us sigh and groan and undergo sweet nauseas of all kinds, is the remembrance of some lost bliss that was probably experienced in the womb and can only be reproduced (though we hate to admit it) in death.

- On The Road, Jack Kerouac

- Calvin & Hobbes, Bill Watterson

I am extremely introverted and rabidly anti-social, unless I am either intoxicated, or in front of a computer screen.

I have a formal, post-secondary education in the form of a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Minors in Physics and Philosophy. Because of a complex series of unfortunate circumstances and blatantly idiotic personal decisions, however, I have not utilized that education in any practical or fulfilling way since I earned it in 2003. Having lost nearly all interest in my field of study, I'd prefer to just forget I'd gone to school altogether; however, the banks and government agencies that loaned me the tens of thousands of dollars to finance said education aren't as eager to simply drop the matter.

I am hopelessly chemically dependent on prescription benzodiazepenes. I hate it.*

*After over two years of slavery to clonazepam, I have been clean of it since mid-June, 2007.

Most of the time, I am a shameless nihilist. Occasionally, I attempt to be spiritual. On those occasions, my spirituality is unique, unorthodox, bizarre, and often times drug-influenced.

Currently employed in a dreadfully mind-numbing data entry office position. Frequently bored, listless, apathetic and drenched in ennui in my spare time.

Sentiments expressed better than I could by a few great minds:

Inexpressible and nameless is that which gives my soul agony and sweetness and is even the hunger of my entrails.

Most people think,
Great God will come from the skies,
Take away everything
And make everybody feel high
But if you know what life is worth,
You will look for yours on earth

Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
Cheshire Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.
Alice: I don't care much where--
Cheshire Cat: Then it doesn't matter which way you go.
Alice: --so long as I get somewhere.
Cheshire Cat: Oh, you're sure to do that, if you only walk long enough.
- Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll

Ghost: Come, Bender, you'll like being dead.
Bender: That's what they said about being alive!
