Description:
Navigating non-binary lives
non_binary was created to provide a space for people who feel they do not have a binary gender and/or sex to discuss how we navigate our lives. On-topic matters would include (but are not limited to):

  • Choices made around transition

  • What is considered transition

  • Coping with imperfect options

  • Accessing medical care, transition-related or otherwise

  • Dealing with businesses and government offices

  • Discrimination

  • Navigating work and social life

  • Relationships and family

  • In/Visibility

  • Disclosure

  • Sex and sexuality

  • Internalized self-hatred

  • Personal understandings of gender

  • Societal models of gender

  • Where gender and sexual orientation are headed

  • Finding support amidst community misconceptions

  • Educating, or not

  • Shifting and static identities

  • Coming to terms with one's identity

  • Privilege

  • Legal issues

  • Issues related to aging

  • Body image and dysphoria

  • Intersecting struggles

As per the topic list, this is a space for people beyond the initial stages of identity questioning. General interest topics will be directed to genderqueer and enquiries specifically about not transitioning are encouraged to post to our_own_path. This is a personal space. Do not join if your interest in the topic is primarily academic. If, however, you think you could get value from joining, please do. Current binary identification is not a disqualification. Membership is currently open.
