The Basics
Hello! I'm Shiv. I'm in my late 30s. Leo sun, Scorpio Moon, Sagittarius Rising. XNTJ (equal introverted/extroverted). A Complicated Queer(tm). Genderfluid AFAB (all pronouns, preferring either he/she/it) on T since 2009. Living in Canada. Coffee lover. Freakshow enthusiast. Sadako apologist. Likely in love with the villain. Changeable gremlin. Banter is my love-language. I write a lot (usually) and have a lot of thoughts and feelings about a lot of things.
Owned by two cats (Bonnie & Clyde). This deserves its own paragraph.
I'm a Hedge Witch, not Wiccan nor part of a coven, and follow my own spiritual drum. You can be whatever you are even if we disagree, but if it's tossed down my throat, we wont get along. Work wise, I primarily work in festivals and events and function gig to gig, highly prefering it this way even though it does cause instability sometimes. I actually really enjoy my job (usually)! My ADHD has granted me the superpower of being far more interested in working at a number of places rather than one place.
I talk about my life here. Some of it might be whatever is going on in the day, things I've been up to and want to do, links to stuff, and generic musings. I may post about music, movies, share plans and updates on project, talk about friends and relationships, etc. Other things might be deeper reflections about what is happening or has happened in my past, mental health, and processing. I welcome critical conversation and deep emotional discussions as much as silly bantering around. If I ever don't have the capacity for something then I will say so.
My posting habits may vary! When I am less busy, I'm more likely to post almost if not daily. During festival season or harder MH moments, I may be far more sporadic.
Likes + Interests
I enjoy cooking, dancing, weight lifting, aerobics & kickboxing, playing indie co-op games with friends, make-up, retrowave/outrun aesthetics, carnival aesthetics & so much more. Perhaps obviously, I'm into the occult and supernatural things but my whole life isn't about it. If its spooky and goes bump in the night I likely enjoy it, but I like a BUNCH of other nonsense (and styles!). I enjoy true crime, horror, corny action, MONSTER TRUCKS, and much more. Musically, I love all sorts and go through phases but tend to still prefer harder and heavier music (though not always!) Sometimes I make music under the moniker of SH1VV3R. It's typically drone-y ambient noise. Some examples.
For reference, some of my favorite movies are
Million Dollar Baby, Willy's Wonderland, Constantine, The Purge (all), Real Steel, The Bourne Series (not including the one with Jeremy Renner), Carnival of Souls, The Conjuring (first movie), Mad Max: Fury Road, Kung Fury, pretty much every film directed by Mr. Zombie
For reference, some of my favorite bands are
SCISSOR, My Chemical Romance, Kim Dracula, Megadeth, Psyclon Nine, Gorillaz, Hocico, Ice Nine Kills, In This moment, Dir en Grey, Deftones, Electric Callboy, We Butter the Bread with Butter, Radiohead, Kavinsky, Tzar B, TWRP, Great American Ghost, Jack off Jill, Bad Omens, Hole, Cottontail, KODA, Fever 333, The Village People (100% unironically), and much, much, much more.

On Mental Health & Past Experiences
I have been clinically diagnosed with ADHD, BPD, & CPTSD. I also struggle with an Eating Disorder (was Anorexia, is now Binge Eating Disorder but sometimes I relapse into symptoms of the former). I'm very open about these issues and have worked extremely hard on managing them, especially my BPD. In my past, I've vagabonded & I've been homeless. I've experienced many a thing both wonderful and strange as well as frightening and difficult and made many mistakes along the way. All of these are important for the person I have become.
I may post about these difficulties, reflections on my MH, unpacking symptoms, etc. I also enjoy a good party every now and then, so there may be some nightlife shenanigans and adult discussions. Due to my healing journey, or journey in general, I am going through a process of reclamation for the several years of my life I feel were lost due to the gravity of my mental illness and other situations. In this regard, I'm revisiting many experiences of the late 90s/00s.

On Gender & Sexuality
While it isn't as defining of who I am as other aspects of myself, I do think its important to understand. I'm Genderfluid. I do not personally consider this the same as Non Binary as I am both male and female. I am AFAB, have been on Testosterone for over a decade and had a full hysto ages ago. I do not have any intentions to "fully transition" and am comfortable being "in between".
It did actually take me a long time to come to this conclusion, and it wasn't until about a year ago—after plenty of work on my own internalized transphobia and systemic beliefs of what transness looked like—that I came to this place of comfort and acceptance. I do, truly and deeply, not have "preferred pronouns" and you can address me in any way that you like. Hell, make something up. Lately, I've been rocking a more femme look, but I have been extremely masculine in the past and both are me.
Sexuality wise, I am Asexual although I am NOT sex-repulsed and have an active libido. Its undetermined whether I am asexual because of past trauma and body image dysphoria (which I do believe is a large part of it), but nonetheless here I am. I am mostly attracted to women, but I close myself off from all sexes fairly equally LOL.

With all of this in mind, drop me a comment and lets get to know one another if it sounds like we might vibe! If you feel like this isn't for you, its all good. Happy journeys.

I've done some interesting changes though. I only have a flip phone, I got rid of modern social media and am on here & Spacehey (a Myspace rip off that looks and feels like old Myspace), etc. Working on being offline more. I hope you find what you're looking for, too. Interested to read about your journey if you post about it! Lemme let you in :D

Funny you should mention Spacehey; that site has crossed my mind lately. I had a profile there couple of years ago, though it kept crashing and was buggy as hell. I gave up after a short while, but I might give it another go. How active is it nowadays?

There are some difficulties, and depending on the gigs I take, I might eventually need to grab a cheap smartphone for specific work situations. But honestly, I can’t imagine ever going back to a smartphone full-time. The amount of freedom and reduced anxiety? Incredible. Truly amazing.
Also, I love Spacehey! It doesn’t seem much more buggy than MySpace used to be, so maybe it’s improved since the last time you were there. It has a nice blend of people. Some from the original MySpace days and some newer folks. So you can really find a community that feels right if you poke around enough and honestly it just feels super charming to have the obnoxious eyestrain back LMAO. I’ve been loving it! Let me know if you make a profile and I’ll add you :)

Oh cool, I’ll give it another look this weekend and if I create a profile, we can connect there as well. :)

Do at your leisure, but I will happily befriend you there as well! :)

Looking forward to getting to know you better :)
I also like that you have a few German musicians among your favourites ;) and I adore Ice Nine Kills, such an amazing band!

Germany pumps out so many amazing artists. I mean, who doesn't love Rammstein (ignoring the current controversy)? I'm a big fan of Einstürzende Neubauten's early stuff, and And One is fantastic. I'm probably going to see them live when they swing by Toronto this year! I've got many more, though! Other German bands on my playlist include Wumpscut, Die Krupps, Funker Vogt, and of course KMFDM (which apparently doesn't stand for "Kill Motherfucking Depeche Mode" who knew? LOL). And I hear hardstyle is huge in Germany right now, although you would know better than me.
Ice Nine Kills is a total blast, and Spencer's vocals are killer (BADUMPISH)! You can definitely hear their emo/scene roots, and I love that. My friend once said they sound like Panic at the Disco if they actually panicked at the disco and snapped, lmao.
I could seriously talk about music forever, but now its your turn!! What are some of your favs??

That's such a good description of their music! LOL.
Oh, I love so many different musicians! Some faves: Emilie Autumn, Florence & the Machine, (old) MCR, Linkin Park, Taylor Swift, Freya Ridings, Amy Shark...I listen to quite a lot of pop music lately but rock & metal also have a big place in my heart. Love Within Temptation, Nightwish, A Day to Remember, Bring me the Horizon etc. - and I always forget half of what I enjoy :D

Variety is the spice of life, right? It's cool that we all have different tastes. It makes the world more interesting. I went through a phase where I was super into this Goth Pop vibe, idk like... Cottontail. Would that even be pop??? Whatever, it wasn't in the rock/metal genre. LOL. Anyway, if you forget half the stuff you're into, that's a good sign, imo. It means you've got a ton of awesome music to love and explore!
I hear you on Old MCR. I still don't love Danger Days although I LOVE the aesthetics of Danger Days. Massive fan of DD's aesthetics, but it was actually around The Black Parade when they started to lose me. I feel like the only person in the world who hates that song. I've since started to appreciate the album in its entirety, but I'll still be super quick to skip over that particular tune. Its a shame, because the abandoned album that they later released as four separate things (I can't fucking remember the names of them) well after DD was released, I enjoyed A LOT more.

Looking through other comments - I've heard of Spacehey but never thought to make an account there; I missed the whole MySpace boat back in the day so it would be totally new to me as an experience. Very cool you're able to have a flip phone and make that work! I can see what you mean about how it would make you more intentional about texting.

Spacehey is a fun site. It's not as engaging as the old Myspace days, but I'm also in a different headspace now compared to back then. Still, it's a sweet little nostalgia trip, and I'd be happy to connect with more friends over there if you ever decide to join.
I was a bit unsure about living with just a flip phone, tbh, but it's actually been fantastic!

Hello! I stumbled across you via
I also write about my general life generally (hm) and I have two cats also! Mine are called Pancake and Biscuit which I admit isn't quite so metal but I always love reading about cats!
All this to say that if you're currently adding, would you like to get to know each other? :)

Hello! Thanks for dropping by. Pleasure to e-meetcha. TBH, I used to have a friend who was incredibly pink and over the top and also goth as fuck. IDC what people say, "pastel goth" is still goth and goths need to stop gatekeeping a community of outliers. *huff* :T
Yes, I'm still adding! Winter is usually more difficult for me, so I'm sorry if my entries right now are a little crybaby in nature, lmao. I'll add and snubscribe!
