Hey, I'm new here, just came over from customers_suck, but I've had ever so many more awesome customers.

I just wanted to share with you my favorite customer ever.

I used to work in a small, family run chocolate store. I worked there for 3.5 years (and I didn't gain weight, surprisingly enough!!).

Anyway, we worked alone in the store, taking care of sales and stock and cleanup, etc. Quite a bit responsibility for a 16 year old!

One day, this mother and her 3 year old daughter came in. They were so polite, and I helped them out making a giant gift basket for someone's christening. Anyway, the lady paid, and she and her daughter were on their way out of the store when the little girl stopped, ran back to the counter, looked up at me and said "Thank you!".

Then she reached into her PowerPuff Girls purse that she proudly wore, pulled out a nickel, and gave it to me "because you're a nice lady!" she said.

It was the cutest thing ever. I wasn't allowed to accept tips, but we had a donation jar for Smiles Children Foundation. I told the girl that I thought we should put it in there so that we could make some children smile. I lifted her up (with permission from her mother, of course) and she dropped in the nickel.

Then, smiling at me, she skipped out of the store.
Cutest kid ever.

Tips!

I'll also take a minute to thank the regular coffee customers at my store. I'm sure they don't know how wonderful it is when they throw a dollar or some change into my tip jar, but it really makes my day. I'm back to being a poor college student, so my tip money is really the only money I can use on fun stuff anymore. I went out the other night for a nice meal and a few drinks, I couldn't have done that without those couple of dollars here and there that I've been saving. Random people who give me tips are fabulous, too; but it's the regulars that really impress me as I know how easy it is to not bother with something like that when you're in almost everyday.

Others on my list this week include the 15 year old goth girl who spent 20 minutes telling me how awesome I am because I was wearing a fishnet shirt under my work uniform (at the icky job.) Also the middle aged regular there who stopped to talk to both of us; I never would have made it through my last hour without the two of them!

Furthermore, I want to thank whichever customers have been telling my boss at the smokeshop that her "new girl" is wonderful. This is probably the first job I've ever sincerely enjoyed; any good words about me to the manager make me feel more comfortable that I'll be able to stay there for a good long time.

Apology from the Mod

Hey all, sorry it took so long for these posts to go through. LJ is supposed to email me when there are posts waiting to be put through, but I didn't get any of the emails until today.

I've also been working 2 jobs plus going to school, which probably didn't help. However, this is my last week at the job the sucks so besides having more time, I should also have more stories from the job I'm really enjoying. (it's at a smokeshop/coffeeshop with some of the coolest customers!)

So bear with me, and thank you for your posts!

The Onion Bagel Guy

This post is for the Onion Bagel Guy.

Every single weekday he comes through the drive thru, orders an onion bagel with cream cheese, a honey wheat bagel, and a large coffee with two sugars. Like clockwork.

He's foreign, and I'm not sure where from, but from his accent I'm guessing eastern Europe. Every day he drives through, orders, and when he comes up to the window, he goes (in his awesome cute accent) "Helllooo, how arrre you myy dearrr?" It never fails to make me smile. We chat a bit and at the end of our conversations, he always says "Now, don't worrk too harrd!" And I say, "I'll try!" or "Oh, it's too late" and to that in which he frowns and wishes me a good day. He's always understands if we're really busy or if I can't chat for a bit- he's always patient if it takes a while for his bagels to come out, and he cheers the rest of the staff up too. It's amazing that he's not creepy about it all, like most old men that come though.

I salute you, Onion Bagel Man!

First post, yay.

To the patient, kind lady who I served while I was by myself in the little donut kiosk on an insanely busy Saturday morning -

Thank you so much. You are a wonderful person and made me feel that little bit better about humanity. You were sympathetic when the milk bubbled over and spilled on a stack of clean plates, asked if I needed to take a minute to clean anything before I served you, let me scoop the donut mix into the machine, brought over your trays when you were finished, and made sure the other customers realised I was doing my best to serve them all in the shortest possible time. You made what was otherwise a horrible 7.5-hour shift seem a little bit less crappy. Come on back soon.

I had a customer make my day this past week. As she limped into the large retail pet supply store (in a very obvious walking cast) trying to keep up with 2 small children, she asked if we had motorized carts. We do not. I asked if I could help and she sent me off in search of a 40lb bag of dog food. No problem, just takes me a little longer as I work in the salon and not on the floor. I brought that back to her and she sent me off for a large bag of cat food, as the kids kept coming back with the wrong kind.

She made a point to get my name and to tell me she planned to call my manager later on to tell her about the shopping experience. AND she actually did call.

It's so nice to be appreciated.

So, I was pretty upset at work today. Things concerning school, money problems, friends, etc. were weighing in on me. A customer noticed me and asked how my day was. I was like, "not too good", and she told me this.

"Think of your life as the sky. Everything that is good, everything that you live for, think of that as the sun, and think of your worries as the clouds. Now, no matter how many clouds are in the sky, the sun will still shine for you if you look hard enough. I've lived by that for all of my life and it's made me a better person."

The rest of my day was considerably better, because a stranger took the time to worry enough about me to share that wonderful quote.

Why can't all customers be like that? :)

Mod leaving.

Due to lack of interest on both my part as well as the members of this community, I've decided not to moderate this community anymore. Not to mention I moderate other communities which are more active and it doesn't make much sense to have two mods for a community that rarely gets posted in anyway.
Not only that, I've recently took myself out of the customers suck community because it's not a very positive community and there's way too many posts that take up my friend's page. Being that I'm no longer a member of that community it wouldn't make much sense to be a member of this one either.

Sooo.. I just thought I'd make it known that I'm no longer moderating. We still have a mod for this community darkgryphon though for those that are wondering. Same rules apply to the community, there's just one less moderator. If anyone is interested in taking my place (even though it doesn't make much sense to have more than one mod for such an inactive community) please feel free to contact darkgryphon on that.

Sorry the idea for the community didn't work out as well as I thought it would. I just figured it would be nice to have a community pertaining to the nice customers as well as have an off topic discussion place for everyone but oh well. I'm not upset. Take care everyone.

Your now ex-mod,

I have real nice customers (n00b)

Having high spirited people around makes my work day so much better. So does walking out of the place with a fat pocket.
The pay is better than my last job, because I get lots of tips. I've never before gotten tips- I'm really loving the fact my instant gratification urge is muffled by the end of the night
. These great people are giving our counter near or over $100 in tips on a busy night. The average is about $50, which raises my hourly rate to over $6 bucks a night.

Even those not tipping are nice. I have worked there almost three months and have had no problems with any of them.
