Netherworld Races

This is a fairly comprehensive list of the races found naturally throughout Overlord Baal's Netherworld. It is separated into two categories: humanoid demons and monster demons. The former are generally considered 'job classes' which, theoretically, humanoid demons can join; the latter are beasts whose sentience can range from feral animals to highly intelligent beings.

Although some of these races are considered more powerful than others, that is simply on average; even a demon from the weakest of races can possibly become powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with the more powerful classes. Use this post to help with NPC interactions, whether that may be interacting with castlefolk or wild beasts.

Much of this information is available to the characters themselves, assuming they would like to find it in the castle library.

Announcements!

I have several announcements to make, the first and most important being in regards to our application procedure.

netherworld_rpg and her sister roleplays (mayfield_rpg, srw_unlimited, and kingdoms_rp) have created a shared musebox to be used for sample posts. The location of the comm is here: testrun_box.

How it works:

-Join with the journal of a character you intend to apply for.
-Make a post with the character with the name of the RP in the title.
-Players from Netherworld, Mayfield, SRWUG, and Romance of the Infinite Kingdoms will reply.
-Use the post and threads as the sample post for your application.

Naturally, you can reply to posts made by people applying at the other roleplays. However, since this is mainly for creating length samples, we strongly discourage joining with a character just for the sake of posting there if you have no intention of using it as a sample post. This community is a tool to be used for the roleplays, not a game in and of itself.

My next series of announcements are not as nice, as I am going to have to enforce some rules that appear to be broken:

-darkassembly is to be used for requests that characters cannot possibly do under their own power or with the help of others. We advise all players and characters to try to get something done THEMSELVES before going to the Dark Assembly. If we find something that appears to be abusing the system, the bill will automatically be rejected. We as the mods have far too much work as-is to be catering to unnecessary bills.
-darkassembly is not a place for characters to interact. Originally, characters commenting on bills was alright since it was done only once in a great while and usually only by one character at a time, but we've recently seen a very high amount of spamming of many recent bills. As a result, I am going to say, for now, that no character(s) aside from the one(s) making the bill can talk in the bill itself. Other characters can know what the bill was and the results, but talking about it will have to be taken to the personal journals.
-There has been an increasing amount of abusing the fourth wall lately and I advise EVERYONE to please read the rules regarding the fourth wall. As a rule of thumb, please do not have characters from different series recognize each other and if they don't show that they know it within their own series, do not have them be aware they are fictional, in a game, or anything similar.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to comment here with them.

Application Information! Update! Something!

You may remember us mentioning in a previous modpost about us increasing our strictness concerning applications. We've figured out a way to (hopefully) allow us to get a better grasp of the player and character being apped while minimizing the tedium on the part of the player.

We introduce the the INTERVIEW SYSTEM. This is optional in place of a sample post or may be requested by a mod in conjunction with a sample post. It is basically the moderator interviewing the character being applied for. The moderator will ask a series of questions in regards to the character which the character him/herself must reply to.

Hopefully this will allow the moderators to get a better grasp of how well a person has on a character while being enjoyable and not tedious like applications can often be.

To test this out, we may ask one or two of the current applicants to take part in this, regardless of the application's sample. We're far from perfect and need practice! I hope those waiting for their applications to be accepted don't mind helping us out.

New Bill Rules and Other Crap

Hello, Hustino-mod here with a few announcements. Firstly, I'd like to introduce some new rules for common bills. The rules can be found here. The types of bills covered include the following:

1) Class Title Changes
2) Room Assignment Changes
3) Passing Bills to Meet Important NPCs (Baal, McDood, et cetera).

Any current bills that fall under these categories will be applied to the new rules EXCEPT for the EXP requirements; however, any future bills that fall under these categories will apply all of the new rules.

If you have any questions concerning the new rules, go ahead and ask them here.

Another announcement:

Since our RP is growing and gaining more people, we're going to become more strict with applications. What we'll be mainly looking at will remain the same: the applicants' ability to write (capitalization, grammar, spelling, and coherency) and the applicants' ability to write the character as they appear in canon, meaning how in-character the character being applied for appears to be. The world of Disgaea and Nippon Ichi may be wacky and strange a lot of the time, but netherworld_rpg still requires people to write properly and requires the characters being played like they are portrayed in their own series. If an application does not show either of these, we'll be asking for revisions.

Always re-read what you write and always ask yourself if the character would say or do in their own world what you're having them say or do here.

If you have any questions concerning the new rules about applications, go ahead and ask them here.

Livejournal Roleplay FAQ

Since I haven't seen anything like this anywhere on Livejournal, I thought it would be nice and convenient to put together a general, all-purpose Livejournal Roleplaying FAQ of sorts. This is NOT just for netherworld_rpg; I posted this there because, well, I mod there and I felt that was the most appropriate place for it. This is for LJ RPing in general, so even people outside of Netherworld RPG can use, read, and comment to this.

This is the sort of thing I would have liked to have seen when I started roleplaying, so I hope other people find it useful as well. Since I'll be referring to this as a FAQ despite not listing it in a question/answer format, feel free to ask questions here and I'll add or amend this post. I want this to be as helpful and useful as possible!

While a good portion of this is directed towards people new to LJ RPing, I would also like to incorporate things that even experienced RPers may find useful, so if there's anything you believe should be added (whether tips, vocabulary, or communities), go right ahead and suggest it.

Dimensional Gatekeeper

Netherworld Atlas

Because the Netherworld is a very, very, very large place, here is a somewhat convenient list of locations of interest! As new locations are discovered, founded, or made up spontaneously, they will be added here. There are short descriptions...well, doing what they do: describing the destination.

This is a list (but not a completely comprehensive one!) describing known and common locations throughout the Netherworld. It is separated into two sections: One detailing locales in or around Overlord Baal's castle and another listing areas visitable via the Dimensional Gate. The Gate is easy to use and requires no permission or anything at all; in fact, the gatekeeper is never there. With the Dimensional Gate locations, a list of common monsters is given, but feel free to assume just about any demon can be found anywhere and remember to check the Bestiary for non-Disgaean monsters that could be in these locations!

If you'd like an addition to this list to be made, please reply here and give the name, description, and the reason for the addition. An example can be the Hakurei Shrine, which was created at Reimu Hakurei's order and is a legitimate locale. If you'd like a picture to be incorporated, please make it 400 pixels long and 300 pixels high and link us to it.
