New England Patriots vs New York Jets

There has been enough written and said about this game that doesn't need to be repeated by me.

The Pats just have to play their game and not turn over the ball and they should win. Its pretty simple.

Its the bye week. Get your popcorn ready for some good games.... At least we all hope so right?

I've gone back and forth as to who will win and who I want to win. Do I want the Jets to win? Or Indy? Indy scares me. Though I would love to see the puss face come back out for the playoffs. GRIN. Peyton can never be taken lightly. The Jets? Uggh. I don't know if I can handle another week of Jets talk. But I think the Pats chances against them are good.

The Chiefs are a big question mark. They are the Patriots Midwest. And they certainly would have some insight into beating Belichick.

Ravens? blah. It would be a very tough and physical game. I think they would be the team I'd least like the Pats to play.

Seahawks? HAHAHA.. .Pete Poodle strikes again??? I doubt the Seahawks will beat the Saints. However, the Saints have gotten a few key injuries and they will be factors in the game.

Eagles? blah. After the Jets talk, I'm sick of the Vick talk. But I think it'd be a good game, Packers played the Pats well with a backup QB. They'd be a tough team to play down the road.

All that needs to be asked today is how long are the starters playing and how can they avoid getting injured. Thats all that really matters today. Everything else is of little value.

Its been one hell of a season so far. I'd hate to see anyone get hurt now.

New England Patriots vs Buffalo Bills

Today's game is a tough one to predict only because the Bills are tough. They played the Pats very well earlier in the season.

The Pats offense sputtered a little bit. They didn't control the ball at all last week and they just had problems moving it. Missing TE Hernandez maybe a factor. Gronk has to pick it up. And the running game has to be a factor. The Law firm has to get some big yards to relieve Brady. He has continued to be very good this season.

The Bills defense is good. Their corners will be busy trying to cover Branch and co. They have to hope the Bills offense can hold onto the ball for long stretches of the game.

The Patriots defense is full of injuries. Wilfork has been huge. He certainly is the linchpin to the defensive line. He'll have to step up his game to slow down RB Fred Jackson.  He has been a beast. Also the defense has been letting too many first down conversions. They have to stop this explosive offense.

The Bills offense has continued to be entertaining. They made it a tough game for their past several opponents. I expect the Pats defense to continue to have problems. Hopefully they can continue to get key interceptions. McCorty has to play big.

Special teams will also be an important part of the game. More pooch kicks and something for the Pats???

The Patriots should win the game but I think it'll be very close. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost though. There are some nagging things that don't bode well for the guys. Playing away and just having too many injuries may catch up to the Pats . Not to mention the after Christmas hangover....

New England Patriots vs Green Bay Packers

Today's game should be an easy one to pick. On paper, the Patriots should win this game. I felt the same way with the Cleveland game and see where that led me. It could easily be a trap game but I feel the Pats have learned their lesson with Cleveland.

Until they win a bye week, nothing will be taken lightly with this team.

The Packers have a great defense and with test the Pats rolling offense. The weather doesn't seem to effect Tom Brady. Its supposed to be just cold. There maybe some snow but nothing major like Chicago. The Law Firm may have a tough time running the ball against the stout Packer defense. But I do expect the Pats passing game to continue to roll.

The Packer defense is rated one of the best in the NFL. Clay Matthews could have been a Patriot. He's been one of the better young stud lineman. He'll be busy trying to stop the Pats offense. The Packers still have excellent corners and they'll be tested.

The Pats defense will be tested again. How well Matt Flynn plays will be the key. Playing against the unknown QB will be the Pats greatest problem. But once they figure him out, it could be a long day for Flynn. However, the Pats have to figure him out first. There's just not enough film of him. And he looked bad last week. Donald Driver is one of their better receivers,. The Packers don't have much of a running game. The Pats may just end up blitzing Flynn to death. It'll be interesting to see how he reacts.  I don't expect McCourty to play too much or at all. Expect the Pats young defense to have a tough test tonight.

The Pats have to get to an early lead and not let the Packers hang around too long. Ball control and not turning the ball goes without saying....

New England Patriots vs Chicago Bears

Today's game looks like it'll be a wild one with all the snow and wind. It'll certain boil down to the running game and very short passes by both QBs. Sadly this will help the Bears more than the Pats .

The Pats defense will be tested in stopping the run. With the loss of Brandon Spikes, it puts more pressure on the other guys to stop the run. Jay Cutler has been a better QB in recent weeks thanks to a great running game. He'll have to rely on it more today. If he feels like passing the ball, the Pats will get to him.

Tom Brady has had a great record when its snowing out and lets hope he can continue to win. The Pats will need all the best Tom can give. The snow will make long passes very tough. I expect the Law firm will have a big day running the ball.
The stout Bears defense will be good in the snow. I think they'll be able to slow the Pats a bit. Of course the offense does have the advantage in the snow over the defense.

Special teams are going to be the key. Field position will be so important due to the snow. The Pats have to kick it away from Devin Hester. Anything to him could be dangerous. I do worry about the Pats kicking and punting game. It hasn't bit them on the butt yet but it could today.

Today's game is too tough to call. It could go either way with the short week for the Pats and the away game and of course the bad weather. They're all factors. Which one proves to be the deciding factor remains to be seen. My gut is saying the Bears will probably take today's game.

New England Patriots New York Jets

What is left to be said that hasn't been said already? I think the Pats should win this game but its going to be brutal to watch. It'll come down to the team with the last pecession. They both have had the same amount of time to rest and have enough time to come up with wrinkles in the game plan.

Both teams have improved since the last game. Both teams will be tested.

It's going to be fun to watch.... at least I hope it will be. Eesh.

New England Patriots vs Detroit Lions

Today's game looks like another classic trap game. There are a few factors that could play into it.

Tom Brady is injured. To what extent is unknown. And whether or not he will play at all also is unknown. But its more likely that he will play. 

The quick turnaround does not bode well as well as another road game. The Lions do play well at home. And the Pats are sometimes shaky. Not enough days rest is not good for either team.

Going on the assumption that Tom will play, the Pats should be able to move the ball. Suh has been a beast for the Lion's but he has been the only standout for their defense. The Pats will have to make sure he's blocked to protect Brady.

The smurf receiver corp should be able to move the ball again no matter who is at QB. Dink and dunk maybe the flavor of the day. It'll be a tougher game without Tom though. DUH!.

The Lion's offense is basically Calvin Johnson. He is a beast. He'll be double covered and I think he'll be taken out. How well though remains to be seen but I think the Pats will defend him alright. What can they do against the rest of the Lion's offense? I don't know. Sean Hill at QB? Dangerous? No. But he should be able to manage the game.

The Lion's are a dangerous team.  I don't take them lightly but if the Pats can build an early lead, it shouldn't be a problem.

Today is their Super Bowl so I expect a good game. It'll probably be a close game. I just hope the Pats are on the winning end. They should win on paper. blah blah blah....

New England Patriots vs Indianapolis Colts

Today's game will be another classic showdown with the Colts. The Pats have a lot of going for them. The Colts have a lot of injured players and the Pats are home. The Colts haven't been very good on the road.

Tom Brady should have a good game but the Colts have a very good pass defense. Look to Aaron Hernandez to have a bigger than in the past couple of games. The tight-ends should be a key to this game. Maybe they can take advantage of their size. The running game should also pick up it too. Look to the Law firm to have a good game.

The Colts offense should have a good offensive game as well. Peyton Manning could pick apart the defense. Its another test for the young Pats defense. If they can play as well as they did against the Steelers, it could be a blowout. McCourty better be ready. Look to Pat Chung to be a huge factor.

The game really does boil down to the play of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. It could come down to the one who makes the least mistakes. It shall be interesting.

I think it'll be a close game. The Pats have an edge but it's tough to figure out which Patriots team will come out to play.

New England Patriots vs Pittsburgh Steelers

The New England Patriots look like they face an impossible fete tonight. I think they do. They probably have very little chance of winning tonight's game. I hope I'm wrong.

But right now, there are just too many little things that are going against the team.

Tom Brady is hobbling a bit.  He doesn't have a deep threat.  And the Pats defense is swiss cheese against good QB's. Not to mention that Goskowski is on IR too. Otherwise, the Pats have a chance. Uggh.

The only hope is that the Pats throw on the "weak" Steeler corners. I'm not sure who he'll throw to though. Branch has a hammy. Tate is still learning. And the tight-ends proved to be fallible last week. Its not hopeless but the Pats have a huge hill to climb against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

The main thing is can the offensive line protect Brady? Give him time to throw and he should be able to pick apart their defense. I also think Bill could pull out some trick plays this week. It just seems right. The offense needs something to get them started.

The Pats defense showed how vulnerable they were against the run. Wilfork alone can't stop it. And I really don't trust the corners yet. They have had their moments but with an injured Patrick Chung, it hasn't seemed to worked. The Steelers offense could just run over the Pats.

I won't even get into special teams. It was once a highlight. Now there are too many questions.

Throw on that its a road game and it could be an ugly game if the Steelers get on top early. The Pats have to be the one to take an early lead and work from there.

I hope the Pats win but I just don't see it tonight.
