Going to BIL

Heading to BIL this weekend from Friday afternoon until Saturday afternoon. Where are folks staying? Was looking at an RV park, but it isn't much cheaper than a hotel... :/

Yes, I'm still alive, and still read LJ everyday. Life has been going reasonably well, and I'm looking forward to catching up with cool people this weekend. I'll endeavor to post more, but no promises.

Reminders to Self

Not losing is not the same as winning.

The over-examined life is not worth living.

It is possible to over-simplify.

Less of:
-I should
-I wish
-I have to

More of:
-I want
-I choose to

Farewell Old Friend

I'm heartbroken to report I had Buddy put to sleep today at the age of 14, following a week of illness. He was suffering from complications brought about by lung cancer, and the prognosis indicated only a slim chance of responding to treatment. He was a true friend and companion for the 5+ years I had him, and I've never known a cat with more personality. I miss him terribly, and I'll never forget him.

What says love more than a giant man in a rubber suit?

This Saturday afternoon from 2pm til whenever, in what is sure to become a Valentine's Day tradition, I'll be hosting a marathon of one of my favorite childhood shows, Ultraman, along with co-host danifesto. Think of it as a cross between X-Files and Godzilla:

"When the world is threatened by alien invaders and giant prehistoric monsters, there is only one agency equipped to handle the situation, The Science Patrol, an ultra-sophisticated police force equipped with high-tech weaponry and spacecraft. Led by Captain Muramatsu, the team defends the planet from the unknown. Unbeknownst to the team, one of their members, Hayata, has the ability to transform into the giant superhero from Nebula M7B, Ultraman, when all their weaponry can't stop their foes."

Come for the nostalgia and silliness, stay for the alcohol. Let me know if you're interested.
