hello everyone... my name is Quynn, im from grand rapids, MI, and i just joined the Navy DEP about a month ago... not shipping out until next september, which is good because that means i have a lot of time to get in shape and everything, which is by far the most challenging thing for me... anyway, im signed up for the nuke program... im pretty excited about that. i just wanted to join this community so i could see what other people had to say about the DEP and the navy in general...
Well I've been in DEP since July, my ship date is Nov. 21st going in as CTT (yay!). It's getting closer and closer...I'm excited, nervous, terrified!
I'm just trying to get my stuff boxed up and trying to comfort my family. I think they are more upset than I am.
Anyone want to share some bootcamp secrets? Or anything I should know before I get there?

Hey everybody, my name is Andy, i'm 22 and i ship out Jan 4th. I'm just finishing up some classes before i leave so i can have enough credits to come in as an E3, and then i am off. I'm signed up for the AECF program, with the goal of becoming Fire Controlman, but what i really want to do is be in a riverine unit or even SWCC. Maybe eventually...
If you know your leave date, do you know what your graduation date from boot camp will be? If so, could you help me out and tell me? Thanks!

curious
My name is Robert, I'm 18 and I'm in the DEP for the Navy, obviously.
I'm enlisting into Advanced Electronics with a six year contract and a five thousand dollar bonus.
I'm pretty damn handy with electronics, so I suppose this suits me.
I'm joining because I believe it's my duty as an United States citizen to serve my country in a time of war. I am a die hard nationalist, and life in the military is extremely appealing to me. I just thank God that I found a place in life that espouses moral courage and virtues. After my sixth year contract is over, I either intend to reenlist or go into the Marine Corps. I intend to spend as much of my life as I can in the military, and also use it to further my education. I hope to one day become an officer.
I'll be shipping out the day after Independence Day.
peace.
Well, I just found this community
My name is Joe, I'm 17, I'm from Ronaoke,Va and I went to MEPS in Beckeley,WV on 20050627
Got sworn in for a SEAL-OS .
I ship out on 20060829 and I'm counting down the days.
My dad was in for 20yrs and retired as an MM1,Petty Officer 1st
I've wanted this for as long as I can remember, but if anyone has any words of advice, I'd be glad to hear from ya.
Hi, my name is Rebecca and I joined a few months ago... signed for IT as an E2. I leave 20060502. Anyone know anything about this job? I went up there with dreams of being an HM and it was a very No, Not Going to Happen situation (the woes of being a female). BUT, I'm fine with it. Info Tech seems okay and I spend most of my life on a computer anyway, might as well spend a little more of if that way. I have looked into the Nurse Corps program for after I get in and I qualify to apply as far as having enough college credits goes (i have some english, psychology, and biology in there), but I hear it's pretty competitive, but I'll get in first, work my ass off and see if I want to give that a shot. Right now I'm just biding my time, playing World of Warcraft a little too much, working, schooling, and conditioning myself physically. So, nice to meet all of you.
Hey, my name is Cassie. I'm 22 and planning to join the Navy in two years (when I finish college). I'm so excited about, and two years is a LONG TIME to wait. Military people where I live are few and far between, and I'm desperate to talk to people who are of the same mind set!

Hey. I'm new here. Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Heather. Without going into frivilous details, let me just say that I have been in strong consideration of the military over the past couple of months. I have narrowed it down to the Army and Navy, but only because those are the two branches I am most framiliar with. My goal is to be a public affairs specialist. It was on a trip to Ground Zero that I made a promise to myself that I would do whatever I was necessary to protect my country, our freedom, and my loved ones. And I don't go back on my word.
My questions are numerous. I have been looking into News & Media careers on the different websites for the branches of the US military. I must say, the Navy is the most in depth one I've come across. This wasn't enough to answer all of my questions, unfortunately.
If anyone knows where I can find reliable information about enlisting, the Navy itself, where are some possible places I would be deployed to in the Navy as a public affairs specialist, or anything I should know before I signed on the dotted line, please let me know.
Thanks all. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
