Are you ready?

It's NaNoWeen, guys!

Do you have your pencils sharpened and your foolscap ready? Have you replaced your typewriter ribbons and decrumbed your keyboards?

Are you ready to rock?

Who am I, What am I doing.

Hey there. I'm Brigid, I'm 28, I work for a grocery chain as a regional data entry mastermind. I live in Chicago, and I started this community for people I know and would discuss writing with face to face to be able to discuss writing and NaNo stuff from a distance.

My NaNo plans have changed (like they always do), but I do intend to write a YA novel. I've got an idea for a horror/thriller involving a serial killer.

Mod Post

Hey, guys. I've gotten a LOT of requests lately to join this community, which is kind of weird because it's been around for quite a awhile and nobody ever noticed it before. heh.

I started this place for people I know, wether IRL or online, to get together and talk about writing in kind of an intimate way. You know, to be among friends. Hence the moderated membership.

If you request membership using a writing journal and I know you, please email me saying who you are.

If you have an LJ that I don't know about, but we know each other, please email me and tell me who you are.

If you know someone who is a member (IE, you're a friend of a friend), email me and tell me who it is that you know, and tell me a bit about yourself. If you have a journal that's heavily friendslocked, please friend me so I can read your posts and get a feel for who you are.

If you wandered into this community randomly, please email me and tell me how you found it, and tell me a bit about yourself. Also, please add me to your LJ so I can read your journal and get a feel for who you are.

Also, if existing members think I should just throw open membership on here, let me know and I'll do so.

My email is shadefell at gmail.com. I'd like to hear from you. :)

Quick re-introduction. I'm a 29-year-old geeky bartender working on a story called "The Con Job." This is the story of one Kit Marlowe (dad was a literature freak. He has a sister named Jamie-Joyce), a twenty-something noir geek who uncovers the seedy underworld of geekdom at a major comic-book convention. After the author of a popular series of fantasy novels falls several stories from his hotel room to his death Kit suspects foul play, convinces the higher-ups that he's an actual PI and is hired to discover the truth about what really happened.I'm really excited about his one but have run into a small snag...

After much planning I don't think I can write my story in 50,000 words. I plotted and planned and organized and began work on my chapter breakdown spreadsheet and found that I'm going to need at least 90k to make this story work the way I want it to.

So I'm going lofty this year. I'm aiming for 100k.

I'm really happy with the way the outline looks, though. I'm more organized that I was last year so this should be doable.

What to do next month...

I failed spectacularly last year, not even writing 2000 words. How mortifying is that?

I'm torn this year, this coming November, between starting a whole new project or getting back on the story horse that threw me last November, and doing more of my werewolf story.
