But then inspiration struck! So as a follow-up an update on the outfit I want to sew for the second day of the Amphi Festival: It's based on a) fabric I already have and b) clothes I already have. The only sewing I have to do is the skirt, and that will be made of my beloved cotton fabric that my first Steampunk-Skirt was of, too. The grid-underskirt for that pompous look will be made of leather straps and elastic stays I have left. Maybe I'll paint those golden or something, I don't known. I have the shoes, the vest, the top, the bloomers, so not much work is left. Better this way, with exams coming up and all... I'll see about accessoires. For now, I'm happy I don't have to worry about a fitting idea for the second day anymore. And now, seriously off to bed!
I am a sucker for military fashion. Not something you'd admit easily. I wouldn't, anyway. Blame Till for that coming to the surface. I bought a very steampunkable fabric the other day, at first to make me some pants from it. Now, after Sarah wore my Gangsta Pranksta Lipservice Skirt, I decided I need that pattern for something Steampunk. So I thought, why not use the fabric I bought anyway? So it was decided. Then yesterday I kept listening to "Mädchen in Uniform" by Nachtmahr, and steadily, I developed the idea to sew myself a Steampunk Militia outfit for the Amphi Festival this year. Then there's this Maya Hansen corset I adore and want, but it's not for sale, so I have to do this myself. I can do this, I just have to get real. Other people have sewn their own corsets, so I will, too! And because I felt like it, I scribbled a first take at the outfit.
Till showed me a russian peaked cap for about ten bucks which I'm likely to buy and ready make in some way. I need a few Steampunkish Medals and the like, thank God I have such a crafty boyfriend. We'll see. I HAVE ABOUT TEN THOUSAND IDEAS I WISH I WOULD JUST FINALLY START...
AND I'M TOTALLY NOT DOING THIS TO GET TILL TO WEAR ONE OF HIS UNIFORMS. HGNGH.
