Animes with Best Romance
Anime
List of really good Animes that also have good romance in them, but some may not be romance orientated but more of as a subplot but regardless still have good romance.
One of the best Rom-coms out there. Two idiots with zero romance experience, trying to get each other to fall for them. They waste their high iq brains to make the other confess due to their high pride stopping them from confessing as confessing = losing in a relationship.
Can be seen as a series of funny stories. Not only are the main characters like Miyuki and Kaguya very likalbe, but also the side characters like Fujiwara, Ishigami, Hayasaka, Iino are all very well written. The characters always learning new things about each other is also another reason this show is so good.
Recommend to read the manga, due to a few small funny stories being missed out, but strongly recommend reading the chapters between 'the first kiss that never ends' till the 'stairway to adulthood', this is the movie skips over 100 chapters of Kaguya sama, which are pretty important and also funny.
One of the best romances animes, very iconic for how emotional the plot is, it might make you cry. A clasic that MUST be watched in April.
About a middle school student called Arima Kousei, once known as a child prodigy, genius, human metronome, due to being really good at the piano from a very young age. But there's also a dark backstory to his skill so he no longer is able to play. However, with an encoutner with a "crazy violinist" his life takes a 180 degrees turn, his boring grey school life becomes painted with colour.
Not Romance orientated but the relationships betweent the characters is really well written, especially the romantic relationship between the main couple is very well developed.
About a Chunibyo "mad scientist" who goes around trying to save all the people dear to him as he goes around time travelling/changing world lines. But sometimes there are consequences.
About a delinquent boy who meets s ickly girl at school one day, then he decides to help her with her difficult school life. And he later meets other girls at school as well who also have their problems which he ends up solving which reults in him having lots of friends of the opposite gender. After story dives more into his relationship with the main heroine he picks.
The sequel, clannad afterstory is good. In fact after story is really good. It will probably make you shed a tear because it's sad. The first season is also pretty good, but more like a build up to after story I think.
There are also 2 the specials to watch if you wanted to see what it would be like if the main character ended up with someone else(as this was adapted from a visual novel, many different endings) but I think nothing beats the original.
Another one of the best romance animes with supernatural elements. Watch all the seasons/sequels afterwards; it keeps getting better and better. Luckily, this anime has lots of seasons(for some reason some of them aren't chronological), so you have lots to enjoy). It is a good romance, comedy, supernatural anime to watch
It's about a boy(Araragi) who becomes a less-than-half vampire after spring break(how he became one is in the movies(3 of them), which were released a few years after the original series but set chronologically before) and this almost human goes around helping others deal with Oddities/Apparitions/Aberrations, and makes many friends(all female) along the way.
One of the best Rom-coms out there. All the characters are likable and memorable. It captures both comedy and romance really well. Watch Horimiya pieces as well, just a collection of hilarious scenes that weren't included in the orignal.
About how a quiet, nerdy looking boy ,who helps run a cake place, who's life changes abruptly due to helping a boy back home. This meeting leads to various acquaintances and many hilarious situations.
Looking to smile? Watch this. It'll make you smile during the whole show and you don't know why you keep smiling. It's just so wholesome. It will make you wish you had a angel next door.
It's a romance and about a boy named Amane. They are neightbours. One day Amane decides to help an angel, not a literal one but a very pretty girl who is the denfinition of pure and innocent with a bit of bossiness. And they spend more time together and cook for each other and... They get closer.
Just a really wholesome, sweat romance to watch. The shy interactions between the angel and Amane are the highlights of the show which will make you smile. And you'll find yourself smiling more and more as you watch more episodes. And you'll be wanting a S2(Which has been confirmed!)
Not romance-focused, not much romance in general, but it’s heavily implied. You really only get subtle hints. Really needs a sequel, it would be better if we got some more romance. But regardless of romance, it is a good anime to watch.
It is a mystery show where the main character along with his club members constantly solve problems, many in which are just the curiosities of the main female character.
One of the best romance animes. A really good blend of supernatural and Romance. Watch all the sequels and movies afterwards.
It's about Sakuta Azusagawa, a boy in high school who helps a bunch of people out with puberty syndrome. Puberty Syndrome (a.k.a adolescence syndrome) is a term used to describe abnormal experiences during adolescence as a result of sensitivity and instability. Very few believe this exists. Sakuta meets a lot of people while solving mysteries and curing people of puberty syndrome.
13 out of the 15 light novels have been adapted into an anime accross 3 movies and 2 seasons. Sadly, the ligh tnovel has now ended, and the anime will probably end with the next movie/season.
Satou, Tatsuhiro, a shut in for 4 years blames all his misfortunes on the NHK, a secret organisation that is responsible for all of his downfalls. While living a shut in life, one day his life takes an abrupt turn when a girl makes an offer to him. And so his life starts to progress sometime backwards sometimes forwards as he tries to escape from conspiracies and the NHK.
Good character development throughout, you can see how all the characters change. Also a very realistic anime, not everything goes well and the characters a forced to face reality.
About a very dense mangaka called Nozaki. He draw shoujo manga and tries to use everything that happens in his life as reference material. Then he meets Sakura Chiyo who has a crush on him. She's good at art and helps out; and she's not the only one helping out with the manga. For some reason all the people helping out his manga are very eccentric, together they make for a great combo. The anime is about their comedic high school life full of dense male characters and misunderstandings.
Overall a great comedy with romance, but more comedy heavy than romance.
Tada Banri suffers amnesia from falling off a bridge. Without knowing who he even is he attends a college in Tokyo where he makes lots of new friends, and one of them is Kouko Kaga, a very pretty and eccentric girl who changes his life. He makes lots of connections and friends in this new life. But he somtimes struggles to find who he really is.
It was sad at times and a funny comedy at times as well. Lots of plot twists/cliffhangers.
A really good comedy, in fact one of the best Comedy animes of all time. And yes, there is Romance as well. A bit in the first season, more in the second and much more Romance if you read on in the manga. It is absolutely hilarious and the romantic relationshipsare well written but also are quite slow; as this is a comedy. The slow romatnic development isn't bad though, in fact it helps build tension.
It's about a boy named Iori who moved in with his uncle and two cousins due to college. They live by the sea and own a diving shop named Grand Blue. Iori is a pretty normal 20 year old boy but when he is greeted by his seniors who a part of a diving club, his live abruptly changes. What seemed like an absolute violation of rules seems ordinary, and to make things worse his so called friends are constantly trying to kill him.
Chuunibyou, a.k.a grade 8 syndrome is a disease that makes you think you have some mystical powers and are different from the others. And this becomes a part of your life that is most embarassing. Togashi, Yuuta is an ex-chuunibyou, he used to think he was the 'Dark Flame Master', and thus was friendless in middle school so decides to turn a new leaf in a high school far away so no one knows him. And there he meets another chuunibyou, he tries to disassociate with her but their lives get more and more entwined and find that becoming unibyou is not just caused by delusions.
The interactions between a chuunibyou and a people who want to disassociate from them is quite fun to watch. First few eps comedy but later gets deep.
It's a really good rom-com with no obvious romance till the last season(3). The events that lead up to it were good. It would be better with more obvious romance though. A sequel with what happened after would be good.
It's about a guy who is very cynical and pragmatic, lacks much emotion. Naturally doesn't have friends but thanks to his teacher starts a club and meets many people, some who are as cynical and friendless as him.
Something that us weebs may find relatable. Momose Narumi is an office worker who is an otaku and is into Yaoi, anime, and even draws manga. However, despite trying to hide this, her boyfriend found out, and she got dumped. Because of the awkward atmosphere she moves workplace, and vows not to hide her true nature. In her new workplace she meets her fellow otaku childhood friend Nifuji Hirotaka who is really good at games. Her cover is blown by her friend but luckily the two witnesses are also otakus. And thus the four of them become very close and live in society while trying to hide their true nature at work and living their otaku life outside of work.
A pretty funny romance. Nifuji is such a good character, he is your antisocial shut in gamer who lack social skills and is very nonchalant, which makes him so fun to watch.
A pretty good romance which has quite a unquie theme.
The main character(Kuze) is a slacker who can speak Russian. The heroine who Kuze calls Alya is a Russian transfer student. She is harsh when she talks to Kuze but then says her actual thoughts and feelings in Russian as she doesn't know Kuze can understand Russian. Which is really funny as Kuze pretends he doesn't understand her even when Alya says the most embarassing things. And I also really like the otaku sibling dynamic going on between Kuze and his sister.
Overall a pretty good rom-com to watch.
A completely extroverted female protagonist paired with a ordinary, quiet male protagonist who's really kind. It's quite typical but it's done well in this case.
About a boy who likes making Hina doll tries making a cosplay for a girl and that makes him meet much more people, forcing him out of his introvert circle. Actually more like being dragged out by an extroverted girl.
About a former model student who decided to not go to school and walk around at night. He meets a vampire one day and hanging out with her leads to him meeting a wide variety of other people and non-people. The former-model-student then wants to become a vampire but to be a vampire you need to fall in love which is difficult for our emotionally deprived student who will now try to fall in love with a vampire.
Was pretty good. Made me walk down my street at night for no apparent reason than to just enjoy the view as it looked cool in call of the night. There are 2 seasons so far. Not a tonne of romance but it is there. It's funny that Nanakusa(the vampire) who makes dirty jokes allthe time can't deal with any sort of romantic topic.
Very similar to quintessential quintuplets. A poor student who is smart is given the offer to tutor some helpless students who have very brad grades. Such as a maths genius wanting to study humanities where she has very bad grades. Narikyuki(the mc) must put up with all the girls(yes, jsut girls, it's a harem) and help them succeed in what they want to be while he also concentrates on his studies.
This show is a rom-com, so it has a lot of REALLY fun parets to itm most of which is Nariyuki being caught up in a bad siutation cuz he was at the right place but at the wrong time.
The anime ending was less ambiguous than the anime ending, personally though, like quintessential quintuplets, I didn't like the final chosen character(in the anime, although it was only hinted at the end).
Masamune was rejected by his rich childhood friend who gave him the nickname piggy because he was fat. Angry, he trains in the mountain to make the arrogant Adagaki Aki fall in love with him and dump her to complete his ultimate revenge. However a few problems, one of which is that he has 0 romantic experience, leading to lots of mistakes. The comedic events that revolve around Masamune trying to find a way to make the cold princess fall in love with him is what makes this show worth watching. A bit similar to "Kaguya sama: Love is war" and "I want to end this love game", except Masamune-kun's revenge is a harem so alo very similar to nisekoi.
The second season has much more development, partly due to the annoying rip-off(hated by the fanbase) basically stopping the devlopment for half of season 1.
An action, fantasy, sci-fi, set in a world where science and magic clash. The main character is a level 0 epser in the science orientated academy city. His name is Kamijou Touma and he is a kind guy who tries to save anyone in need, disregarding his own health. Naturally many people are attracted to his chivalrous acts.
Romance isn't a main plot, however, Touma's interactions with the level 5 esper Misaka is better than most rom-coms. Misaka the tsundere and Touma the dense's relationship is what makes the romance worth watching. It could do with a bit more Misaka X Touma though.
Also watch the side story of a certain scientific railgun where the story takes place from Misaka's perspective.
Has a season and movie afterwards, also a special at the end.
About a poor tutor gets a harem which consist of the quintuplets he is teaching.
About a jobless guy named Arata Kaizaki who eats a pill given to him by a stranger(don't do this) and turns into a 17 year old. And he lives life as a 17 year old, going to school etc, for the sake of research. The pill was given to him by the ReLife research institute which will pay for his living costs while he's doing the experiment and help him get a job afterwards.
The son of a yakuza boss has a lock. He made a promise with a girl to get married when they meet again. The girls has the key.
This boy is called Ichijou, Raku. And due to his father's yakuza circumstance he has to get a fake girlfriend, engaged all the while he likes a different girl. And to make matters worse, he is popular with lots of girls(it's a harem). Living a disastrous life where his decisions lead to a yakuza war, Raku navigates through his romance filled high school years.
It is a good comedy with quite a bit of romance as well.
In this school there is this school the mc goes to, their is this thing called a marriage practical. Basically, the male and females are assigned partners to live together so they are more functional when they actually get married. The mc, Jirou, has a crush, but unfortunately wasn't paired with her. But luckily her partner also has a crush on another boy, so they decide to help each other catch their crushes' attention, as conveniently, both their crushes have been paried.
It carries on in the manga, actually, the best parts haven't even been animated yet, so I strongly recommend you read the manga(although it has been on hiatus for AGES, stuck at chapter 79, though there is news the author has started drawing again).
The main character is Taiki, a boy who likes badminton and also likes a senior called Chiantsu who plays basketball. They both want to enter and win competiotions in their sports like others in their school such as Hina, Taiki's childhood friend who's part of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Club . It's about how these people juggle school and life with sports.
Really emotional. If you like heartmoving things then this is the one for you. Watch the prequel before moving onto the movie.
It's about a war orphan, trained to be a soldier, named Violet Evergarden. After the war, she writes letters as her job while trying to understand the meaning of the last words uttered by the person dearest to her. She also tries to looks for that person, who probably died during war.
About how a very normal, definition of average boy becomes the translator of the prettiest girl of the school as she has a communication disorder. This boy is a student named Tadano Hitohito, his name literally means "just an ordinary person". He tries to help the girl(Komi) achieve her dream of making 100 friends.
