I have opted to not score any anime I've watched. This is after many years of scoring them and never being satisfied with the points I've given them. With movies, this is somewhat easier but with anime, my taste seem to change except for a few.
Neon Genesis Evangelion will always suck.
Ghost in the Shell (1995) will always rock

You're welcome milady and old EA games (Shaq Fu, Need For Speed 2, etc) are amazing. Too bad Year of the Snake (2025) isn't their best year and I rather play Korean action RPGs to Dragon Age: The Failguard. Good luck to Bethesda making Elder Scrolls 6 as viable as Korean action RPGs and western fantasy RPGs like Avowed are generic (that, predictable or oversaturated). Japanese AAA studios are also struggling to compete with Korean developers (looking at FF7 Rebirth having already flopped in Japan and Namco Bandai also running out of JRPGs; I rather emulate a Japanese copy of Tales of Xillia and I already know how Japanese works after playing the Japanese Wild Arms 2).
Yes, many novels including indie comics deserve adaptations. I would also skip Solid State Society and explore newer cyberpunk like Private Eye. My tomboyish, half-Asian friend your age has also grown out of old cyberpunk. She's also sick of high tech, low life themes, excessive societal decay, same old embracing of technology (Private Eye revolves around the opposite or humanity getting away from technology so no worshipping) and ugly neon lights in the background. Transmetropolitan and even Tokyo Ghost over old, 80s cyberpunk guaranteed. Definitely leave the 80s cyberpunk themes and formula behind. I'm also glad that there are some modern writers are challenging old cyberpunk conventions.
After Reading enough Copperhead (issue 6 was that peak volume with action finally kicking in), I wanted to check out that 2013 comic Lazarus and its action is going somewhere. Same with its themes of vigilantism (the main theme of SNES side-scrolling brawlers), urban decay and class warfare. Not sci-fi, but very interesting (very manly too) and I feel sorry for that character that got decapitated trying to fight a female vigilante refusing to give him all her weapons. My homemade knives should stay with me too until it's time to sell them. Yes! The Lazarus comic is too manly to be adapted by Hollyweird. Hollywood can just stick with superheroes and remakes. I prefer a new kind of action. Would be great if independent filmmakers could adapt the unconventional action comics and I would gladly fund them if I was that rich.
More space operas besides Gundam and Star Wars would be great too. I prefer an adaptation of Black Science, Saga (surprised that it explores existentialism and fate like Big O despite being a whole different genre) or Descender. My two friends want more modern space operas too.
Dragon Quest is an OK JRPG franchise, but Arc The Lad games have deeper stories so more of my style. Again, I'm not that crazy about conventional fantasy RPGs and I believe that Elder Scrolls 6 will be mass-produced like every Assassin's Creed game. Become another AAA game and I hate remakes.
If I was that rich, then I would give worthy independent filmmakers the funds they need to adapt Pillars of the Earth, Sword of Truth or any unconventional novel worthy of an adaptation. Unconventional novels exploring themes of espionage and moral ambiguity also. The themes of Zoids Assault which also explores consequences of war. The manliest Zoids story and the game itself has worthy AI being a worthy opponent.
Ah yes! The Ace Combat franchise. Part one is still one of my favorites. I look forward to re-playing 3 on an emulator too.

People calling Mushoku Tensei for 'peak' are fucking loonies.
What an absolute garbage show.
But ah ah, I can't bash it entirely. There were parts I enjoyed with it and parts I didn't enjoy with it.
However it is most certainly absolute garbage.

The 90s were interesting times and I had no idea about that surprising story of your life. I merely grew up in an apartment before I watched Voltron on a second-hand TV that was about to be thrown away for being too old at the time. Clearly made by the oldest anime studio that is Toei, known for making a lot of child-friendly anime with dated animations. Other anime and even other cartoons have more cutting-edge means of animation where as Toei still lags behind CGI compared to 90s Pixar.
Aside from Ghost in the Shell (manga) being my last resort graphic novel, I'll also be checking out plenty of Devilman content and I found lots more indie action novels that I plan to read by next year. Year of the Snake, that is which I hope will be fantastic.
Marvel and DC aren't the only publishers that make action comics, unsurprisingly.
The good thing about indie action comics is that they have aesthetics different than currently trending manga, mainstream comics and even Evangelion.
I'm not surprised that Yoshiyuki Sadamoto lacks knowledge in cosmology and I really hoped that those aliens he made came from Andromeda, but nobody knows where they came from. I wanted to know what exoplanet they came from, but again, cosmology is beyond his specialty, am I supposed to believe that aliens were made out of thin air? I already knew that there were many planets in the universe potentially like Earth even before I watched Star Wars.
I guess few people knew exoplanets existed before Pluto got demoted to dwarf planet status.
Other than that, I really can't wait for Back To School Day and my birthday.

First show of mine would be Batman: The Animated Series and it was one of my favorite cartoons growing up besides SWAT Kats.
I didn't get into anime until I watched reruns and English dubbed episodes of Voltron. Then I discovered Sailor Moon, Pokémon, Digimon, Monster Rancher, Mushrambo, Cardcaptors, Big O, Outlaw Star, Blue Submarine no. 6, Gundam Wing, 08th MS Team, Cowboy Bebop, DBZ, Zoids and so on some time after 1997. Witnessing so many Japanese imports on TV since I watched said reruns of Voltron, one of the reasons why I've been somewhat interested in sci-fi anime.
I meant to say that Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin manga is my second favorite in its respective franchise. I expected a complete adaptation of that 2001 manga and wanted more than an origin story. I hate it when adaptations skip details, best parts, etc which is sadly the case with League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and even Silent Möbius.
As we can see, those who adapt prefer to advertise than to adapt a whole entire novel. I want more than advertisement.
In the first Silent Möbius manga, the Chinese exorcist Lum Chang never met Roy or some blonde policeman. Making the '98 adaptation closer to 65% accurate. Another incomplete adaptation and no one will ever get to see entire special unit of AMP go on a heated battle against Ganosha's ultimate menacing form. Sex scenes in the manga never materialized despite the rule of thumb that sex sells.
In general, I prefer real adaptations and I prefer the source material to be highly respected.

Hello again milady! You actually responded sooner than expected so it's cool. I hope that you had a wonderful overall Year of the Dragon too.
Japanese isn't easy for everyone, especially with particles being more difficult, less practical or grammatically inconsistent than those of Hokkien or Min Chinese. Not sure what Korean particles are like, but they could be a better representation of the particles part of speech than their Japanese counterparts. A semitomboy about your age that I haven't seen in ages before she got married to a south China man took a decade to achieve fluency in Japanese. She learned Japanese decades ago and I only started fairly recently because of all these Silent Möbius volumes, side stories and its sequel are Japanese only.
What else can I do with Japanese? Get my PhD anywhere anytime. Prepare for college professors that want to test me.
QD, the Silent Möbius sequel from a decade ago, while not as completely awesome as its prequel from 1988, is still better than currently trending manga. Better overall modern artstyle than currently trending manga as well.
As for said Ghost in the Shell manga, I'll just read it as last resort and to extend my completed manga list. Maybe not as good as the best sci-fi among independent comics like Transmetropolitan, but I'll definitely read it later.
As you can see, I can easily put alternative comics, obscure manga or a lot of things over anything unbelievably mainstream graphic novels. I'm tired of superheroes and conventional shounen all over the place.
Witchblade, Ragnarok (canceled, but at its successor is a very enjoyable online game helping it expand its story; basically the real life Dot Hack), League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and The Crow over Avengers any day.
Graphic novels aside, it's difficult for me to skip Gundam because I grew up with the franchise since around Y2K, especially after seeing those Gundam Wing toys in the toy aisle. I still put G Gundam over most of the franchise, but The Origin is second best for me because I love Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's artwork. After War Gundam X sure has a great soundtrack by the way and should be nominated for best music in a mecha show. I love that techo-ish soundtrack. Witch From Mercury, AGE, 00 and Zeta are definitely low enough tier so far. A Gundam fangirl from said Korean mmorpg playing as lord knight told me that she 00 and AGE mecha designs were terrible.
My other favorite mecha series are definitely Fafner, the OG Macross, the original Zoids (used to watch it every morning before school) and Big O (I love those strong Batman vibes and I once thought that it was the Japanese Batman as a kid). Zegapain, on the other hand, is totally the most underrated sci-fi anime I've seen from 2006. I love the fact that Ayako Kawasumi (the best Melfina) starred in that anime at around the same time she did Saber and Atoli.
Sunrise knows that Ayasumi is one of the best actresses in anime history.
Maybe I'll check out something else LOGH another time. Thankfully, with that franchise and indie comics being more amusing than currently trending Manga being conventional shounen, I'll have more hope for modern entertainment.
Never seen 801 T.T.S. Airbats, but I'll check it out some time after reading every Oh! My Goddess volume.
Again milady, thank you for the surprising response.

ごきげんよう、貴婦人!
Have you been studying Japanese too and what do you love most about Kikaider? I haven't seen that anime in years.
I'm also thinking about reading Ghost in the Shell some time since I re-watched Stand Alone Complex and Second Gig several times.
I love Mutsumi Otohime and I love the fact that Satsuki Yukino voiced her some time before Ken from Zone of The Enders 2 came out in Japan.
My supertomboyish friend or my big Virgo friend is a big fan of Gundam. My semitomboyish friend from North Carolina loves most Gundam, but hates Wing.
Wing is okay-ish to me, at least better than anime so far.
A woman from Oklahoma told me that Evangelion is overrated. I kind of agree, but I put that over newer anime easily. I do understand why she and my semitomboyish friend from Maryland don't like it.
If anything is insanely overrated, it's Attack On Titan. I take indie comics over that manga any day. I'm not that crazy about shounen or whatever is being written for teenagers these days. I was already an adult when Attack On Titan came out and I remember when its thunder got stolen by generic battle shounen like My Hero Academia. A manga as generic as Naruto.

Aside from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin (manga), I'm still surprised that Suikoden 3 (Aki Shimizu adaptation) and Hyper Police are one of a kind. So were 009-1 (Mylene looks like a spunky tomboy I used to fall in love with before she became Amish so soon at a young age; used to play Fallout and racing games) and Kikaider. Hybrid identity is one of the things I love most about Hyper Police, by the way.
Speaking of friends, I generally prefer the brainy kind. Especially those willing to explore different themes in media beyond their knowledge or understanding. If other media explores complex themes like class warfare, then I would explore it no matter what elsewhere.
At the end of the day, all media is related to entertainment. So I believe in entertainment being all the same.
Speaking of unconventional cyberpunk! I thank Deus Ex, Solty Rei (I would sure like to get superstrength via biotechnology, even if if means being temporarily powerful), Matrix, Batman Beyond, NT Warrior and even Silent Möbius for indirectly pointing towards the likes of Private Eye for me. That and many more more cyberpunk comics that are innovative enough to be adapted. Comic books that know how to be cyberpunk without being copycats drifting far away from their 80s counterparts. More focus on characters than corporate control is great. Some focus on societal decay is also great, but more on characters.
With that said, I really look forward to next year's video games coming to Gamepass, Steam, Xbox, GOG (able to make Trails of Cold Steel and indie games mine), etc. Can't say Year of the Horse will be promising for western AAA.
I'll be emulating classics in the meantime.
EDIT: I hope that you'll have a wonderful Year of the Horse starting late winter. I'll also play Cyberpunk 2077 in the meantime.
Inuyasha? my busy friend, a shoujo, fantasy and steampunk fangirl, your age dropped that series (she even grew out of the manga) completely. She goes by Elise and she also loves playing video games.
Update: Some friends of mine just told me that Dot Hack Zero is in development. I look forward to more news about Dot Hack's return soon enough.
