Both are great sports anime where the MC is really good from their town/area/locality but when they step into the big stage they realize how skilled all the other players/competitors are. Although Megalobox can be a bit darker sometimes, both of them are pretty logical and well made shows

Both have one of the characters harbouring a non-human entity and both come to deeply care for them. Also, both of them have a distinctive artstyle.

Both are nostalgic childhood anime with a lot of episodes. The plot is similar too. MC will always be in need of help and the deuteragonist, like Ninja Hatori, or Doraemon will help them and save they day.
