The Spirit (English)

Notes:

Created by Will Eisner (b. 1917), The Spirit centered on the crime-fighting work of Denny Colt from a base in Central City. As the world thought Denny Colt had died, he had a lot of ability to operate outside of the law. The Spirit inspired many similar strips but they did not attain the depth of characterization and human involvement of Eisner's stories. The supporting characters in the strip, Police Commissioner Dolan, Ellen Dolan, and Ebony White, were more conventional characters.
