Larry Trent (English)

Description:

Larry Trent is an officer in the police unit nicknamed Radio Squad. He is the second and longest-lasting chronicled partner of Officer Sandy Kean of car K-7. Trent is in a relationship with social worker Lorna Drake whom he met after saving her from a fire. Along with Kean, Trent lives in a rooming house operated by a Mrs. Grady.

Notes:

Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Larry Trent first appeared in More Fun Comics #23, and the last name of Trent is first given in More Fun Comics #34. Trent's name is inconsistent throughout several of the character's earliest appearances. In More Fun Comics #30 and #33, he is mistakenly called "Jimmy," possibly due to a mixup with Sandy Kean's first partner, Jimmy Trent. In a cameo appearance the Federal Men story in New Adventure Comics #26, Larry's last name is given of the first time as "Dugan." However, when his last name is next given, in the aforementioned More Fun Comics #34, it is given as Trent, and another officer in that story is named Dugan. In all appearances after where his last name is given, it is Trent. It is possible writer Siegel or the letterer mixed up the names, leading to a permanent error. Trent should not be confused with the same-named boxer who appeared in the Superman newspaper strip storyline that ran from Feb. 20 to March 18, 1939, and was later colorized and reprinted in Superman #2, which was also by Siegel, Shuster and inker Paul Cassidy. Beginning with More Fun Comics #75, Trent's and Kean's patrol vehicle is identified as car 54, likely due to creator oversight.
