Last time this came around I showed my three year old and he said "He's little like me!" and stared for a whole minute (v. Long in toddler time).

Just for information - and not to take from your point in any way, darnitjack, which is So Cute! - the original title is Die kleine Kunstkennerin, which means this is actually a little girl!

Fell a few months behind on Bleak House 😔 I’m off work this week so am going to try to catch back up to Dickens Daily.

Also I realised I never changed my pfp / avatar / icon / whatever we’re calling it these days:

[The image on the left is my old icon, of Miss Pross and Mr Lorry, cropped from an illustration by Phiz (Hablot K. Browne) for the 1859 ‘monthly parts’ of A Tale of Two Cities; An arrow points to the image on the right, Caddy Jellyby sucking on the nib end of a quill pen, cropped from an illustration by Harry Furniss for the 1910 'Charles Dickens Library Edition’ of Bleak House]

A french one a friend sent me, we send each other pictures of doors for.... reasons.

The direct translation is "door out of use" and "just like us all", but the french word for "out of use" also means "doomed". So it would be something like "door doomed, just like us all".
