From a certain point of view?” Mycroft’s smile was sharp, predatory, incongruous with his appearance and soft voice, “After all, there is generally a reason – a necessity – for a murder, from the murderer’s point of view.  And if you were to ask Sherlock, I’m certain he would tell you that murders were necessary to alleviate his boredom.”

“… have I ever committed a necessary murder? Oh, I could never muster the energy.  Ask Sherlock, he will tell you my hatred of legwork.”

Mycroft’s eyes took on a distant cast, “After all, what would be the point of admitting to a necessary murder?  Is it even a murder, if it is so needful?  Surely then it is survival.”
