i hear dive bombers and empire down
So after I posted in annoyance yesterday, L's friend called me and grilled me and then said she'd pass my info along to her friend and now I'm waiting for *her* to call me (my mistake was saying not to call during work hours, but I can't always answer my cell at work! So all this waiting for phone calls is terrible and also makes me feel like it's 1988 again or something).

Last night, I dreamt I was talking to someone - one of you, I think, though I don't remember - and they said they'd vidded every one of their fandoms to the same song ("Cure for Pain" by Morphine, for the record), and they showed me their playlist. And I replied, "Next time, ask me for some song suggestions. Like, someone should vid Star Wars to 'Lucretia My Reflection.'"
And then I woke up and thought, Star Wars was around in the 80s. Surely someone vidded it to "Lucretia My Reflection." I mean, you'd have to cut the song down by like 2/3, but I bet you could do it. Also, there should be a Vader vid to an edited version of "This Corrosion," yes? (I mean, probably I shouldn't be trusted because I also think you could do an entire array of Anakin vids set to Taylor Swift songs and it would be both hilarious and true and only like 5% ironic.)
Not that I don't think it would be an interesting project to pick a song and vid as many different fandoms to it as possible just to see what happened. But I am not a vidder, so I don't know what the rules are for that sort of thing.
In other news,
silveronthetree added yet another bedsharing story to my list, but this one is completely gen, and hopefully as funny on paper (screen?) as it is in my head. I guess we'll see. It's half written already, and it's amusing me, at any rate. It's a lot easier when you don't have to worry about the sex part.

American Gods: The Secret of the Spoon
On the one hand, I thought this was a good episode, because it contained some fantastic stuff in it - holy crap, Orlando Jones sold the shit out of Anansi's monologue. I mean, I knew he could do it - he was never given enough to do on Sleepy Hollow but he was good at what they gave him - but seeing it like that was something else. And of course Gillian Anderson was fabulous as Lucy/Media. Plus, Cloris Leachman! And Peter Stormare and Ian McShane chewing the scenery together! - but on the other, I can't imagine sticking around if I were unfamiliar with the book, because nothing actually happened. There was no payoff of anything, and since it's being released weekly, you can't get satisfaction from going immediately to the next episode. I'm not sure that was the wisest decision, but I guess they don't really need to reach a huge audience. Idk.

Matt Harvey, wtf? I feel like I need to revise my Matt Harvey tag now because dude, wtf?

LOL - this is hilarious and true and now I want to watch these vids.

Ironically, after the recent equinox vid exchange, where at least two songs I had 'in queue' were vidded to other fandoms, I began wondering about putting together something like that. I think the result would be rather amazing, tbh.
There used to be a stigma in some vidding circles about re-using a song, but I think it's kind of gone out of fashion?

Right? I feel like Taylor Swift speaks to his soul. *g*

I think it really could! I mean, some songs get irrevocably attached to certain characters or pairings for me, but some can transfer pretty easily around, and one of those might be really interesting to do it with!

I've heard of that, though I'm not a vidder so I don't know what the trends are there, but maybe?

That sounds great!

The bes part of the show to date BY FAR.

Me too! I think it would be both hilarious and emotionally on point!

Agreed!

I think it would be hard for me to actually do it, though, first of all because vidding tends to render me incapable of listening to a song for awhile, but also because of the "indelible images" problem; once I've vidded a song, that particular take on the lyrics and set of clips is all I can see in my head. In a way it's sort of like writing a series of stories with the exact same plot in different fandoms; you'd have to really like that plot and also be capable of letting go of the specific character beats from the last time you wrote it in order to adapt to the new set of characters.
I'm intrigued by the idea of trying it as an experiment, though.
