Cursed Waters MUCK

Cursed Waters: A Pirates of the Caribbean game.

The great battle of the pirates and the Royal Navy roared….

With Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman on the Royal Navy's side… the Pirate's hours were numbered. As the battled raged, the pirates moved to unleash their last hope, Calypso. Unable to contain the magic released by the woman, the pirates and Royal navy were blasted back, clearing the battlefield.

When the mists rose from the sudden blast, The Dutchman was gone, and several ships had been destroyed. Though, by some form of magic, no soldiers or Pirates were killed. Calypso, back to her human form, explained to the Pirates that Davy Jones had been banished to his own locker, stranded there. Without him, or his ship, death is impossible for pirate or Navyman. A meeting was called on Parley Shoal, and without their Master ship or the help of the Flying Dutchman, the Royal Navy agreed to a temporary truce. The pirates retreated back to their Brethren City, Shipwreck Island, and the Royal Navy gathered their troops and headed back to Kingshead Isle.

Now, the waters are still, but trouble ripples underneath. No one can die in this twisted, magic-wrought world. The Brethren Court is on it's toes, recruiting and gathering up a larger army than ever. The Royal Navy is slowly pushing it's fingers back into the business of the Pirates, using the advantage of the deathless world to capture any and all rogue Pirates. Their prisons are full, their numbers slowly gaining.

Both sides are watching and waiting… for the Dutchman to return.

The Grand Opening is June 1st, but come tonight and poke around! We have started taking character applications. We are also in need of staff members for application reviews and game conduct.

(no subject)

The name's Logan, or at least that's the pseudonym I write under today. I could throw together fancy graphics, but this is a long-shot attempt anyway. I am here to present my MUCK. It will be of the Marvel 'Verse, specifically X-Men. It's been done, yes, but I assure you it's worth a gander.

I write for Marvel during the summer, and the X-Men have been my obsession for well over a decade now. So suffice it to say, I know the 'verse. Characterization, geography, history, everything. And what I don't know off the top of my head can be cross-referenced in my office.

As far as MUCKing, I've been doing that for over a decade now, too. My homebase is Redwall MUCK, and I've been there since '96. If you know the MUCK, you may know me. I'm an experienced builder, and I've been a Wizard once before. I was on staff at Redwall, and have long been of aid even now that I'm retired. If you're new to MUCKing, I'm there to give you a hand. Trust me, I deal with beginners all the time. And if I can learn, so can you.

My game is, as stated, based in the Marvel Universe. I am currently building it from scratch, with most of the Institute completed. It will start at a curious, Limbo-esque point in canon history. Before the New X-Men arc of Grant Morrison, beginning with issue #114. This allows me to recreate events therein for Tiny Plot purposes - though it will not happen in the same manner. Basically, it is very freeform.

I write now to see if there is any interest in those who check this community. I have secured Logan for my own use, but basically every other canon character is up for adoption. There is no strict application process, all I wish is to speak with you personally on AIM or via email before you take up the character. OCs will also be granted, as long as we discuss the idea behind their character as well.

Now, RP will not immediately commence. What I'm really looking for are either fellow builders, who might create more of the canon world from Genosha to Muir Island, or just MUCKers with some experience who would like to serve as my staff. Consultants, and the like. I will be drawing on my connections with other MUCK friends, as well.

The game itself won't go fully public until late August, when I move it from my current computer to its own. At that point, it will have a fixed IP address and constant connection. Right now I shut the game down when I'm not online, and the IP changes whenever I re-connect to the internet. But never fear, the IP is available upon request whenever you want to IM or email me.

I think that is everything. I hope this wasn't too wordy. If there's any interest, find me on AIM at catchadylansong or email me at catchadylansong@gmail.com. We can discuss characters, canon, or even tour the MU.

Thank you for your time,
Logan

Request!

I know this isn't the typical ad found here because it's actually a request (and if requests are not allowed I will gladly take it down with an apology).

But if there is anyone out there who knows muck code and is willing to help either transfer some information from a previous muck, or help give with the basics of a new one, I would be ever so grateful. You can either respond to this comment or email me at animephoenix42@aol.com. In the subject line just put 'muck help'.

Thank you so much!

Aranous MUCK

Basis: Adult RP
Species Limitations: None
Telenet: aranous.com 2323
Website: http://aranous.com
Overview: Aranous MUCK is a muck about a city that exists between dimensions, so anything is possible, and the tech and magic levels are very high. While the muck recognized that public yiff/cyber/sex/whatever will happen. it does try to encourage RP, and hope folks will at least try to do so. Rules are published on a bulletin board on the muck, and you can make a character when you log in as a guest that easy. Any questions feel free to email muck@aranous.com which is the admin, or once your character is made, the 'mail' program on the muck to Typhon, the muck owner and head wiz.

Mucks to avoid

Since this advertises mucks, I figure why not have a thread on it for those mucks, that are either so poorly done, or have a admin so idiotic, that it makes the whole place just bad for everyone. So lets start with my recent experience.

What makes this place bad.

  • Private conversations can be used as a basis for banning.

  • Someone no one has even heard of can put a no-contact policy on you, without a reason

  • The MUCK's own AUP is ignored when it comes to resolving problems with players

  • Waiting to hear you out, means ignoring the muck standard of a jail/twink bottle, and changing your password, while waiting for you to get back on to defend yourself. If you do not get back on in 24 hours, you are banned.

The monsoon is over, and now focus is turning to the land of Tendua. Here lies a valley, inhabited for countless generations by two family clans of leopards -- the Dakshina and the Udichi.
