I am so mad I could kick a puppy, face punch a baby and throw a kitten.
I know am pretty much off of LiveJournal but this is absolutely insane. I don't even understand how extending the First Amendment to corporations in Citizens United v. FEC is in anyway shape or form allowable. I mean it is a person only in a legal sense. It can't vote, so free speech shouldn't be applied to it when it comes to the election process.
Anyway I felt I had to do at least something. So here I am. I realise that hardly anyone is an American citizen on my friend's list, yet again I need to start somewhere and at least do something. I mean for fuck's sake, it felt like the 2004 US election results all over again. That is a textbook example of the worst thing that can happen but not personally happen to you.
Anyway I went combing/reading around looking for commentary, i.e. hope. Anyway I came across YouStreet. If you are a citizen and would like to get involved in campaign finance reform, first sign up as a member because the site can put you in a bit of a loop until you realise that the info they are requesting needs to be filled in on your member info page. Also as such unless you copy and paste your letter somewhere (which I did) before you start trying to deal with the loop you will lose your letter.
Non-entry Related FYI - I have been in the States for the past 7 months because my dad past away in March and Mom is in poor health and she needs help sorting out what needs to be done for her to live semi-independently... however, at the moment it looks like I am her caregiver. Will be back briefly in the UK in May, possibly August and definitely for the school year 2010-2011.
I had said back in August and September that I don't agree with LJ's policies and if they continued to censor content on LJ I would stop using LJ as an online journal (and thus stop giving them money) on September 16th 2007 - the day my paid account expired.
Well it is February 8th 2008 and I am back briefly to delete my entries and leave this message. I will occasionally log in and read people's entries and might leave a comment but other than that my LJ time is done.
I have moved my journal to other sites but I think I will be deleting them too.
Within my limited use of LJ, I will continue to keep people's flocked entries private as I had before, however, if you feel that you don't wish to keep someone on your flist who is no longer an active user than I understand if you edit me from your flist.
Hope everyone in cyberland is well,
Julia
PS - I know that LJ's owners have changed again since I left the site, however, since I have not kept up with the HP fan community on LJ, I don't know if they are any better than the previous ones.
