Two things came to my attention in the news last night.
Congress tried to shoot down Obamacare for the 50th time. You'd think by now they'd learn. Also, did you know, Nixon was in favor of national health care, started the EPA, and thought the money from drug raids should go to help detox and educate the victims/junkies?
Also, we've had a man convicted for his 15th DUI. 15, ladies and gentlemen and those of you who have not yet decided. He has not been sentenced yet, but faces jail time.
Does it not occur to anyone but me that this man has a serious medical problem for which he will need care and supervision all his life? he's not just a criminal, he's a man with a very serious medical condition.
And in case you think I have my head up my ass again, allow me to tell you, my grandfather on my dad's side was killed by a DUI, and because he took a year to die, she was never charged. Also, she had her driving privileges back before she was well enough to drive. They gave her a 2 week suspension. My family, still in hospital.
And it was not her 1st time or her last. Both my parents and my dad's parents were in the car. All of them were seriously injured. She(the DUI) was driving a black car from the 60s without turning on the lights at night, so my family never knew there was going to be an impact. She was leaving town and they were entering it. The road curved and she did not. Head on impact between 2 1960s cars without shoulder belts. This happened in January 1978.
As the cliché goes, she was drunk, so she didn't get really hurt.
And I can still say this. The man has an illness. He will need care all of his life. Where will it come from if the ACA is shot down?
I doubt this man has a great job with wonderful bennies and a boss that loves him.
