Deva Victrix: Part One
Dec. 13th, 2018 07:22 pmThis was written as a Hetalia AU, but several commenters on AO3 kindly suggested that it might also work as an original fic. I wanted to see if it would, too, so I'm posting it here, lightly edited and with some name changes for the canonical Hetalia characters. (Niall, Llewellyn, Oliver and Angus are my friend Nekoian's OCs, and included with kind permission from their author.)
The story's setting owes a debt to both the Discworld and Dragon Age in certain aspects, and Latin names for countries and towns are used because the world is also in part inspired by the Roman Empire (though mostly because I doubted my ability to come up with decent fantasy names).
Deva Victrix
(Murder mystery in a fantasy setting; slow burn m/m; Rated: Teen.)
Summary: Alasdair Ramsey has been a guard in Deva, a large but sleepy town in a quiet backwater of the Empire, for ten years. In that time, he hasn't witnessed many unnatural deaths, but one day he finds a dead man in an alleyway with a very distinctive rose resting on his chest. That rose changes the entire course of Alasdair's life.
