Sweet 16/Elite 8 Update

This one is FAR simpler than last week's update, and the point about folding my bracket in half remains in effect.

East & West Regions: The only game I missed was Duke. I had them losing to UConn, not Arizona I had them beating Texas, though.

Southeast & Southwest Regions: I did not win a single game, these two rounds. Not one. And it's ridiculous that VCU has gotten this far when I didn't even have them winning their play-in game.

Oh, and: WILDCATS TO THE FINAL FOUR!!! FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 13 YEARS!!! W00T!!!
Man, it does NOT feel like that was 13 years ago. More like 6 or 7…I'm too damn old. :(

UPDATE POST!!

So, here's how everything's going after the first weekend:

Also, what the hell is going on with people's haircuts? Have we really come back around to the whole "You know what would be cool? Shaving strange designs into our heads!" movement?? What's next, the Kid-N-Play look? I already heard that Starter jackets are making a comeback. Here's a prediction: "getting stuck up for your goddamn JACKET" will also be making a comeback. PEOPLE, I LIVED THROUGH THE LATE '80s/EARLY '90s… IT WASN'T A GOOD IDEA, THEN, EITHER!

OT: THANKS FOR THE CUPCAKE, angary! IT WAS UNEXPECTED, YET AWESOME!

SUCK IT, FLORIDA!

Come on, gimme that 3 seed!

And nice work, Duke; I really loathe this current collection of Tar Heels. Not that I like you guys that much, either...

ETA: Dearest NCAA Selection Committee:

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU??? And this isn't even about the 4 seed, which I kind of expected. This is about the East region. FOUR Big East teams??? The best (in my view) number 2 and 4 seeds??? AND OHIO STATE IS ~*SUPPOSEDLY*~ THE NUMBER 1 OVERALL???

I've seen some jackassery out of you, in my time, but this is really something special.

ETA 2: My Final Four is: Kentucky (this is wishful thinking, I know), UConn, Notre Dame, and BYU. I have UConn vs. BYU in the finals, with UConn as National Champions. This is ridiculous, and I know it. But I don't care, at all.
Drunk!

HAPPY SUPERBOWL, BITCHES!

The game is now two minutes old, and I still have no idea who I want to win. Normally, this would be an easy call: Green Bay is Chicago's biggest rival and I have family from western Pennsylvania; the Steelers have always been my second favorite team. However, I really, truly loathe Ben Roethlisberger, whereas I find it hard to hate this particular Packers team. I guess what I'm hoping for is an entertaining, close game. And for stupid FOX not to go overboard with their shameless self-promotion. Yeah…I have I feeling I'll be disappointed with that last one.

WOO-HOO! Basketball!

Also, I wish I were in Maui.

Watch us lose, now. I'll blame myself for the jinx. But I know nothing about Washington other than their rank. Oh, and that they rejected me for grad school (to be fair, the ~never got back to me,~ other than to say they had "less than no funding, so thanks for the application fee, chump!"). Fuckers!

Is it wrong that delaying the start of the Duke game yesterday made me happy? Because I don't think it's all that wrong.
Ta da!

(no subject)

So. How does one make me actually post something, these days? Find a time-wasting meme that allows me to think creatively while also answering quasi-revealing questions about myself. And then give me two of them. This is what jimmiefearsylar did, and now you can all be summarily impressed by my mastery of vocabulary. Unless, of course, you are ibroketuesday. Then you will mercilessly mock me for not knowing enough vocabulary.

This is called the "two-word" meme. I'd explain how it works, but I give all of you more credit than that.

...And in today's 'Ridiculous Statement of the Day:'

So, I'm bored at work when I find the following gem, while reading the latest Yahoo Sports article about my White Sox, who faced a young phenom pitcher by the name of Stephen Strasburg, last night (Obama was there because the game was played in DC and he's a Sox fan):

"The president can now be one of the few persons on the planet to have seen Stephen Strasburg in person and to have visited Strasb(o)urg, France, for a global town hall event."

What?

WHAT???

Thank you, Yahoo. This is precisely the kind of detailed, investigative journalism that I turn to you for. I'll never look at SI again, promise.
