1stly, I'm sorry for busting in on your community, but don't worry - I'm not here to advertise or spam.

I'm a student from Vassar College, and I actually came across this community while I was seeking help for an event that I'm planning - a drag ball. Because Vassar has no experience with drag balls, and I personally haven't attended one, I have no clue where to begin. But from your list of interests, it seems like it might be possible that Mt. Holyoke holds drag balls. If that is the case, I would appreciate it so much if you could throw me any kind of information about how your drag balls are set up, in terms of the main agenda and events.

hey everyone! I found out that today (well, up until an hour ago) is the anniversary of the day Mount Holyoke opened way back in 1837!!!

why did no one say anything???

After the wonderful plug that destined2dream put in this community for Lyon's Pride, the website was down for a week. It's now back up, and I wanted to encourage anyone who tried to sign up last week to try again.

Welcoming all queer students, alums, faculty, staff, and partners of members!

dalbino83 just reminded me of another queer organization on campus.  Mount Holyoke Lyon's Pride, the organization for queer alums that also welcomes faculty, staff, and students as members. There's a signup form at their website. One bonus to becoming members as a student ... care packages at the beginning of each semester! Everyone loves presents. :)

My goal in starting mohosexual  was never to offend anyone or divide the queer community at MHC. I just want to reach as many queer students and allies as possible without very much organization or structure.

There are currently two LGBTQQA clubs on campus that I know of. BOTH organize events, create awareness and fight homophobia. Both ALSO reach only a select few students. SYSTA draws queer students of color, while True Colors appeals to activists, feminists and LGBTQQA leaders/role models.  I would like to take this opportunity to let everyone know that True Colors recently started a GREAT Live Journal community.  If you have any interest, please take a look at true_colors_mhc . 

A lot of the historically straight students I got to know last year at MHC were struggling with finding a label to describe their sexual orientation. True Colors and/or SYSTA could have helped them come to terms with their sexuality, but they didn’t feel comfortable joining either club or visiting the Mark’s house. They knew they weren’t gay, didn’t think they were completely bisexual and assumed that True Colors and SYSA wouldn’t accept them because they didn’t fall into such rigorous categories. If you don't think you'll fit in with the other True Colors and/or SYSTA members, I would like to point out that BOTH organizations are open to students of every sexual orientation and gender identity you can think of.

In time, I would like this community to look something like a book of short stories, giving its viewers a better understanding of the queer experience at MHC.  If anyone feels comfortable posting about their own experiences, please do.
