in my concept of furry worlds its like. theres a looooose direct relation in offspring species but its not uncommon for curveballs. like, a cat and dog will usually have a cat dog hybrid thats somewhere like 60:40 most of the time, but they can be phenotypically most like one or the other, and then recessive genes are a bitch that can make stuff weird

so pheasant phoenix with chipmunk-bunny trucy might get a little bit of 🤨 but only the same amount as when they hear how old she is

my difficulty with uendo is bc im so weird and esoteric with my choices and i keep going back and forth on if i should choose an animal that faithfully represents ALL OF THEM or JUST uendo or JUST owen bc like obvs im cognizant of the ideas that 1 they may not follow the typical “theres a host, and the host is the core” (with the way they discuss all 3 being at the ready i doubt the former) 2 that either uendo or owen is necessarily “the original” (original talk is largely stupid and this is not just because im The First Guy number 23) and 3 the way they portray themselves via uendo body is not necessarily strongly correlated to the traits they perceive themselves with

ALL THIS TO SAY i have to figure out my own balance between “this looks like uendo+” and “this looks like owen/uendo and they can. figure it out ig” like having a “fan” type of extension like tail or wings would obviously be ideal to them and how they canonically have decided to express but thats not necessarily the most accurate to how i would translate them to an animal?

better example would be like i was thinking of the shipshape aquarium employees and like on one hand it technically fits that theyd all be aquatic creatures. on the other…. they dont HAVE to be. its not like any of them ever attribute their innate characteristics to working there, its just their personality, which could theoretically be represented more closely by other animals than just aquatic animals

like hog klavier may not be most peoples first choice but i think it ended up tying into some of his personality choices and the type of things he’d do

ig maybe thats the other thing, i take their canon situation and personality, then use it as a lens to be like, if they WERE an anthro animal, what would align most with their situation. so like when i first drew critters again i drew miles as a fluffy grey cat bc i figured that fit. but when i thought more about his life with the von karmas and how he organized himself i thought it made sense he would be Close But Not The Same. i also just thought of him as a horse girl
